I got another photo of hte bottom of the filter, but wont let me load it....maybe cause its so bad....i suppose i should just expected to see problems w/injectors in the future...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif Do most of you guys when you change have at least a little bit of water in there, or none at all??? Note- the white/shiny stuff on the filter is just from the filter casing as i was cutting it apart w/the saw, not swirling around in there...Edited by: Polarbear

Your interval should be between 5000 and 10,000 miles.
I waited till 12k and it was to long judging by how dirty the filter was.
Cut one open at whatever mileage you choose and you can see for yourself.
I'm doing mine at 10k and some do it at every oil change.I always buy my fuel at the same place so I expect some consistancy there.
It's cheap insurance and I feel better doin it.

On a trip to Montana last week pulling my 12,500 # 5er, The SES lite came on in the moumtains & the truck went to limp mode. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif I hooked up my vacum guage & found 25" on the injector pump side of my post CAT filter.
After changing the OEM filter it ran ok. I stopped at a dealer in Salmon Idaho & found it had set a "large fuel leak" code. The tech said this was not unusual with a plugged filter. When I got home I cut the filter open & it was total black. Only 9900 on filter & 100 % truck stop fuel.
