Has anyone had any experence witht he Air Dog filteration system? Is intrained air a problem with diesels?

I've looked at them several times, and if they weren't so pricey I would have one. Caterpillar and I believe Cummins as well have Special Service Bulletins that address entrained air in the fuel system.

Considering the size of the fuel bowl on a 6.5 I would assume air would seperate out there and require periodic bleeding at the bleed valve. What am I missing here?

The entrained air they are talking about is not visible air...

Caterpillar Special Bulletin 651-1250:
“Normally, #2 Diesel Fuel contains about 10% air in
solution, although the air is not visible.”

Cummins Service Topic 5-135:
“The source of the vapor is the fuel itself.”

But their injection systems run at much higher pressure don't they?

well that depends on which particual system your talking about, but I guess in general, yes nozzle opening pressures are higher on unit injector systems. All they're saying is that there is 10% air present in diesel fuel, so a fuel preporator would remove the air theoretically giving you ~10% more fuel in the same volume.

Don't use it but the following thread provides some detailed info:
