I have been considering adding a lift pump. I don't make big HP (nearly stock), but like the idea of keeping the filters full and the ease of bleeding for filter changes. I have the Nicktane kit and am considering adding this pump (mounted behind the cooler). Any comments on this pump/plan?

IMO, it might do the job at cruising speed. My guess is when pulling or hot-rodding around town--anything that creates condition where your instantaneous fuel economy approaches 12mpg--that flow will be inadequate.

AND it would be helpful to know if you get adequate flow through the pump in the event of failure, as I would be suspicious of the longevity of the pump in you application.
[/list]
Is it the price and the size of the unit that makes it so appealing compared to the Delco pump, like the one Kennedy offers?
Perhaps two of those little units could be run in parallel. Or try it and install with a full sized by-pass for Plan B, until your ready to spend the money on a "better" unit.
I commend you for wanting to try this. I've been looking at a lot of pumps for this application, but am still not totally satisfied with any one of them. What I have found so far makes the Delco pump one of the more economical choices. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

Good points all, and I can't answer any of them; likely as not, Whitney wouldn't be able to either.
Probably price is my number one concern as the GM/Delco pump is pretty small as well and would fit where I want to put a lift pump. I just am not convinced I need to spend $200+ for something that would do nothing for performance/economy and likely little or nothing for fuel system longevity.
There is another pump similar to the one I linked that is rated for a bit higher flow rate (34 GPH), but then I still have to wonder if it will flow if it fails.

The ep-309 kennedydiesel sells is $95USD. Add some fittings , clamps and hose and your still under $150USD.

Well if you are not convinced to spend that kind of money then why do it at all right now. Just wait till you have made up your mind that you need to do this, then you will be able to spend the money with no problems...

I like to tinker with my truck and if this would work it's cheap enough to go ahead and put it on. More $ than this would require serious cogitation.

Many of us who have converted vehicles to run on vegetable oil use those little pumps for the veggie side. I don't know if the flow is going to be enough for a duramax application, but they are tough little pumps. I have had one pumping on my veggie furnace for 2 seasons now almost nonstop and the thing just keeps ticking. If this pump is something you want to try, go to Napa online to order it. They come in 4 different sizes and the largest one may be what you are looking for.

Why does it say not for fuel injected engines???

I think that has something to do with gasser fuel injection.
