93 k2500 4x4 turbo diesel.

Question. When I go into 4wd the front wheels don't turn. If you actually look under though the axles turn. Now, could it be an electrical problem that the automatic locks don't turn on? I find it hard to believe that BOTH hubs would be bad, or atleast one would turn the wheel.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

There is only one disconnect, and it disconnects/connects the passenger side axle shaft from/to the differential. If the axle shafts are turning, the front tires have to be turning. Or were you talking about the driveshaft?

It is probably the actuator on the front diff. It is electically operated and they are known to fail.

Hmm, is this something difficult to repair? I am not exactly sure where the thing you speak of would be.

Not really hard to replace but they are a bit pricey
