All stock outside? A '94 should have fake lug nuts on the wheel center caps.
Texas Diesel Guy 08-22-2004, 04:37 PM OK, I forgot, when I bought it it was missing one or two of the factory center caps, so I picked up a set of plastic ones that don't look as good, but at least they match.

That is probably his Dad's 1996 that he has posted about. It also has the new dashboard so it can't be older than '95
That console doesn't look like mine.
quantum mechanic 08-22-2004, 07:24 PM The only truck I've seen as nice as my dad's '96 (leather,CD stock) was justin taylors '96 but he had a leather 60/40 bench no console.
whatnot 08-22-2004, 07:39 PM I took the single disc remote player out of mine and put in a 6 disc changer from a newer truck. It plugged into the same cable. The original radio has the changer controls already in it. It did take some hacking though since it is an inch wider.

shuck 08-30-2004, 01:14 AM TDG: Thanks =)
Yeah, all stock from a drivetrain perspective, anyway. The clearance lights are actually from the factory (on the RPO list). I added the rack on top when I first got it - you'd be amazed how much use it gets. Wheels and running boards were the previous owner's doing. I think they look great, but that's not something I would spend my own money on. There are also VHF and UHF antennas on there for 2 way radios.
The only mods to it at this point are the pinnacle 4" exhaust system, cat removed, and a K&N air filter (I don't really even consider that a "mod"). I'd like to get an ECM reflash, but until I get gauges installed, it's probably not a good idea.
I'd actually like to put a snorkel on the air intake so it's not down so low - I consider that a major design flaw. I'm not talking restrictor snorkel, I'm talking get your air from above the hood snorkel. Jeepers use them a lot. 16" of water and you hydrolock your engine - bad deal. Not that I make a habit of driving through rivers or anything, but that always makes me nervous. I have a 4x4 truck, I'd like to think 16" of water wouldn't be enough to stop it.Edited by: shuck
shuck 08-30-2004, 01:19 AM By the way, the 11k I'm towing is a Cat 300kw generator. 12.6L 6 cyl diesel engine. I thought about putting a sign on it that said, "check out my electric hybrid vehicle"

quantum mechanic 09-07-2004, 08:34 PM yeah,
I made a monster for the front too. I'm choosing not to use it. It would be fine if I had a dana 60F on coilovers instead of the IFS with it's stiffen it for lift suspension. It would cost the same to the solid axle as the IFS lift.

WOW If I had know it would be this good I'd done this exhaust work long time ago. Just picked up my truck after installing 3" out the back no cat no muffler. wow what a difference. I'M Loving it. Road trip tomorrow for fuel mileage check.
CanadianRigger 09-09-2004, 11:57 AM Yeah, if your talkng just the sound value for now, its great! This 4" system really hums too.
Let me know if performance has changed too.
bowtie 09-09-2004, 12:03 PM Seems to have picked up performance too. No really good 0-60 times to compare but it feels like I use less pedal to maintain speed. And downshifting comes with some real nice sounds too.
quantum mechanic 09-09-2004, 01:37 PM Exhaust is the first modafication to make for sure. Everything else depends on it. I had the same "why didn't I do it before?" feeling.
w_huisman 09-09-2004, 02:07 PM SHUCK! I LOVE YOUR BURB! Absolutely gorgeous! What size are those BFG's, and are they the MT's or AT's?Edited by: w_huisman
shuck 09-09-2004, 05:30 PM w_huisman: Thanks :)
The tires are BFG A/T 265/70/16s - Sam's Club carries them now, which is really nice because they were way too expensive everywhere else. Only problem I have with them is that I haven't been able to get them properly balanced yet - gonna have to take them to a shop with road-force equipment.

whatnot 09-09-2004, 05:34 PM How much do they get for them there? I need tires pretty soon.
shuck 09-09-2004, 05:36 PM whatnot: I think they are about $135 each. The big kicker at Sam's is that mounting, balancing, roadhazard, and lifetime rotation and balance is only $9 per tire. It was less than $600 to get all 4 done on my truck.
whatnot 09-09-2004, 05:43 PM I don't think I am going to get any that cost that much. I might have to go there and see what else they have.
I just looked at tirerack.com and they seem to be more and they also charge shipping.

Chevy_Power 09-09-2004, 09:43 PM Here's mine, I was thinking about removing the running boards and adding some weston chrome tube steps later on... As of now, it's got a K&N, ported turbo inlet, 3" straight pipe with no cat. Ive already got gauges and a kennedy boost controller sitting in the garage waiting to be put on.

ChevyDave 09-13-2004, 12:56 PM How much do they get for them there? I need tires pretty soon.
If you are looking for a good set of tires for a good deal try Pep Boys if you have one near you. I bought the Futura Dakota LT, 50K tire in a 285 size, for $90 each. They are great. They have nearly identical tread pattern as the BF Goodrich A/T but at only about 2/3 the price. The 265 size is only about $78 each plus $8-9 for lifetime balance and rotation and road hazard warranty is included I think. I already have 10K on my tires and they don't show any wear at all and they look and ride great.
quantum mechanic 09-13-2004, 01:22 PM Chevydave,
I ran the dakotas and the bfg and the bfg is a better tire. I blew two of the dakotas on the highway and didn't get much comp. for the tread from pep boys. The BFG has twice the tread and half again as much sidewall.
bowtie 09-13-2004, 03:14 PM I too ran both and not much difference to me. I got my tire last time from walmart, only because thats all we have downhere that has a nationwide plan, and as much as I travel elsewhere that nation protection is worth it to me.
