I know it's not really necesary but I really want to blow some smoke when I step on it. Any ideas on getting it to throw some good ol black smoke out?

I know it would prolly work to just take the cat off but is there a more legal way?

Just so you know. Taking the cat off does not blow black smoke. Didn't want you to go thru all that work and have no smoke. Get EFILive, there are some tunes for smoke.

I lay a pretty heavy trail of black smoke with my Edge Hot juice on level 6. Enough to black out the road behind me in my rear view. People tend to back off when they can't see very well :)

Dioblo Sport Predator on 120 smokes good. Not enough to shut down a 4 lane highway, but enough to let the person beside you know you mean business.

hmm cool BUT i've heard so many transmission horror storys about too much powerfrom programmers. Are those exagerated or is there a good chance?

AND can i stack the edge hot juice thing with the A2 monitor??

As to the qestion on the Juice. The A2 was specifically built for it you just won't have the attitude. As to having one, I don't I have the ats mount on my juice w/attitude

Get rid of the Hypertech and get a PPE or a Bullydog if you want smoke.

PPE all the way

On which setting though? My friends PPE programmer is a POWERFUL unit but since he has a stock trans/ no fuel system mods he cant run the higher levels therefor not getting to smoke like he wants. I m just putting this out so the Gentleman above nows if you get a big programmer you'll need upgrades to enjoy it.:) BTW--- Like Alligator said, my Edge on Level 6 completely blacks out the road behind me!:D But i do need to get some lift pumps on cuz it runs out of fuel pretty quick.

well the juice+attitude is better than the juice+A2 performance wise?

if I do that i can tell the old lady that i need it for the GPS :p: ha ha

i run my triple dog on extreme on a stock tranny...totally fine in 1-4...lug the engine in 5 and 6 and you get some good smoke with it... however tranny is gettin done in the summer and then it's time for something bigger...possibly crazy larry but PPE or EFI to get things done.

lug the engine in 5 and 6 and you get some good smoke with it...

what do you mean by "luging" the engine?

DuramaxxedLBZ
02-14-2007, 02:42 PM
Low rpms...then you get more smoke while the turbo is lagging and trying to spool up. once it spools up the the smoke starts to clear out. unless you have some crazy *** tune on it with one hell of a load, for instance at a truck pull or something. the guys with chummins engine can blow more smoke than us on the 5.9L due to it having a fixed geometry turbo. us with the variable geometry turbo aren't able to blow as much smoke due to the vanes in the turbo temporarily changing their angle to maximize the engines performance. when the vanes change, it helps the turbo to spool up quicker which cleans out the smoke which in turn makes the engine more efficient. all that black smoke is unburnt fuel, although it looks badass and scares some drivers and gets all the tree huggers riled up which makes up for it in my honest opinion. hope that answers the question for ya.

also if you do that in 5th and 6th with a high hp tune, dont get into it too much...could lead to a limped tranny which will then do it easier and easier. play it safe on doing that, if you feel a shimmy or a slight jumping while doing that with a high tune you are soon to limp the tranny. just let off of it and try not to let the rpms go too high

BD triple dog and 100% stock exhaust and plenty of black smoke on extreme.

When your blowing black smoke your usually wasting fuel, wasted fuel equals less horsepower. So black smoke equals less horsepower. Go all out go with injectors, twins, dual cp3 injection pumps. Beefed up tranny don't waste fuel

Funny how someone pushing 500,600,700+ rwhp humps enough smoke to choke out a small city. I guess they need to beef up his/her mods because they are making less HP. Ok I am done with this post. Later!!

Keep this in mind too much black smoke can wash out the cylinder walls. So mean too much fuel which will was out the cylinder walls. Or you could just eliminate your turbo all together if you want alot of black smoke. I know a guy that did it.

It is all in good fun. I am sure that there are a few people who get mad but just remember we are all always learning and being able to laugh and joke about silly things is what makes this site so great.:Handshake

Damn straight and dont block your egr and you will for sure have other motorists call in your plates and maybe cause a wreck........sweet, no really I could black out a 4 lane highway before I blocked my egr. With it blocked barely any smoke a WOT.

jerry07
04-17-2007, 11:24 AM
so if you block the egr theres hardly any smoke?

I thought the EGR was suppose to help clean up smoke and soot from getting out by trying to "reburn" it, and running that junk back through the engine??

With the Edge hot juice I can turn the day night if I want to. I have the finger stick & blocker plate in.
