: ready to kill
jmg343 08-20-2004, 07:47 PM ok here we go. flat tire, side of the road, no biggie right? Upon removing my lug nut covers I discovered that 7 lugs are 7/8", normal. The eighth is one of those crazy security nuts they put on if youve got custom wheels, rims, whatever. Mine are stock. All the wheels have the security nut, was the truck sold with a security nut adapter, of course not, why wouldnt your caring dealership set you up to be F***ed on the side of a road in blazing temps. Ive always been a chevy man and im really starting to question them. I hope it is the dealership and not Chevy. For all of those listening DO NOT ever under any circumstances, unless you want all hassels possible, DO NOT BUY A TRUCK FROM VICTORY CHEVEROLET in Petaluma California. Be forewarned.
Max Power 08-20-2004, 07:49 PM It is the dealership that puts the security nuts on. Usually they would throw the key in the glove box. Someone could have stole it on a test drive or perhaps they don't keep it in the vehicle and they forgot to give it to you during delivery.
Did you check all your cubby holes... glove box, center console? How about the jack stuff... was the key back there?
Worse comes to worse you could have tried a hammer and punch to loosen or just break off the stud in an emergency. I know... who carries those either? Edited by: hoot
dpower 08-20-2004, 08:08 PM You may have done this......you should of called their a$$e$ and had them come pick you and your truck up. That would piss anybody off...relax and drink a cold one and try to enjoy the rest off your weekend.
_nar_ 08-22-2004, 07:16 PM Wow, glad my dealer doesn't pull any stupid crap like that. I would be mad as hell to find that out on the side of the road.

jmg343 08-22-2004, 09:43 PM so the dealership blamed chevy saying that they must have put those nuts on there and not notified anyone. the guy says at the dealership "I wish they would have told us about that" yeah how do you think i feel s head. Half if not more of the dealership came out and marvelled at the thing and the whole event. I grabed the adapter, refused to shake anyone hand or even acknowledge their apologies and managed to make it out of there in my truck as opposed to the back of a cop car. But keep your lists handy...
baimpala 08-22-2004, 09:45 PM Remind me not to piss you off, Mac.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

jmg343 08-22-2004, 09:49 PM just a secondary note:
I had a security key in my tool box from the rims on my old truck. It is the star shaped one, it came with a set of american racing rims I bought two or three years back. The security nut that the dealership says Chevy put on there had/has a different pattern, and no the adapter wasnt ANYWHERE on or in the vehicle.
gearhead 08-22-2004, 10:47 PM when I picked up my truck the dealer said chevy puts them on and they took them off and put them in glove box if I wanted to use them they were in there. but I have a great dealer!
SaguaroKid 08-23-2004, 01:34 AM A week after I got my new truck I had a flat on one of the inside duallys, spare was so low on pressure I couldn't use it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
LVSeng 08-23-2004, 02:57 AM jmg343,
Sorry about your bad experience with your truck from Victory Chevrolet in Petaluma. I'd have been pissed too were I stranded on the side of the road because of something like that.
I also bought my truck from Victory Chevrolet earlier this year, and after getting it home and checking everything over after a few days, I found my spare was pretty low on air. I aired it up, and found it low again in a few days. I then aired it up to 80psi, let it sit in the sun for the day, and since then it has not lost any air (tires sometimes do not seat and seal perfectly right away, but need time/pressure/heat to help them seat/seal).
Anyway, having said that, I also have to say I got the most fantastic deal on my truck from Victory Chevrolet! They were the only dealer who would accept a GM Supplier Buyer certificate on a 4x4 Dmax, Ally, CC, SB truck (I called about 20 dealers, most laughed at me and said they can get way more $$$ for these trucks and refused my certificate). With the certificate, I got the truck for a little less than invoice, and got all of the current incentives on top of that. Total savings out the door was just under $10k (that's savings off MSRP plus tax, not some inflated BS dealer added markup price).
So overall, in spite of my near flat spare, I'd have to say my experience with Victory Chevrolet was great! No bait and switch or other pressure sales tactics, and even the nice lady finance manager didn't try to hard to sell me over priced "extras."
So, sorry about your experience, but mine was on the whole better than average, and I would buy from them again.
jmg343 08-23-2004, 10:31 PM Had my tire issue been the first or only issue Ive run into so far I wouldnt have been so harsh on them. However, since day one I have been dissapointed with them. When I first went in there it was a Saturday. I told the salesman specificlly that I wanted to find a truck, told him what kind etc etc etc and that I wanted to essentially put it on hold, return on Mondy when I had more time, and negotiate a deal. Seeing that I am a young 25 and that this was my first time buying a new vehicle, he did everything in his power to scam me into forking over as much dough as possible and purchasing the vehicle on Sat. not Mon. This is as much my fault as it is his, but an honest and sincere salesman who was interested in your agenda as well as his own would have granted me the time until Monday to think things over, for instance the fact that there were no cab lights, no tow hitch reciever, little things I overlooked in my haste and excitment to buy my new truck, things I may have realized had I gone home and thought for a bit.
Upon returning to the dealership for the first LOF, I always go back just for the first one, the salesman greeted me and asked me had I filled out my satisfaction report, because if I had I get a complimentary tank of fuel. I had filled out the report and I gave it to him. My report was filled out honestly and, honestly, I was not "totally satisfied" with every bit of the process the asked about. "Sorry, no fuel" says the salesman, "these all have to be marked totally satisfied." At this I almost blew up and told him if he thought I was going to lie to make his dealership look good all for a tank of fuel he had another thing coming. I expressed to him my dissatisfaction with the day of sale too, he then gave me the fuel. On this same visit I had a discussion with the tech in the garage about changing filters, fluids, etc. He swore up and down that not only did the tranny filter have a magnet but so do the fuel and oil filters. Your guess is as good as mine...who's hiring these guys. So overall, maybe they can be a great dealership and obviously Im gonna learn from this experience so that I am not taken so foolishly next time I buy a truck. I would like to think however that "being taken" doesnt have to be one of my concerns when going to purchase a 40,000 dollar vehicle.
marsguy 08-25-2004, 09:47 PM http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_2_116.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001) Hi All, Please CHECK your rear differential.
When I did the rear differential on my new 2004 4WD 2500 HD
I found only 2Qrts.. The book calls for Four.
I would not trust the Dealers on this,Do it yourself.
