If you live in the area of the salt covered roads of the north, seriously consider looking at all the bolts on the transfer case, you may see a white FUZZ covering the bolts (oxidization), the transfer case is being eaten by electrolisis, a combination of salt, water, steel bolts, and magnezium case, result, the case sections will become loose in 4 or 5 years.

Solution to stop further oxidization.

There is a product called LPS #3 HEAVEY DUTY RUST INHIBITOR when applied it looks and feels like a heavey tan colored sticky wax, I have used it for the last 2 years, and all oxidizing has stopped. This product is suppose to have a weather live of 2 years, so far so good.

Once again I hope this info is of benefit to some one.

Did you spray the whole case or just the bolts and where did you purchase this product from?

T CDMAX, I found mine on the internet from a tool supply house in L.A. area.

If you live in the Toronto area LPS can be purchased at levens the aircraft parts supplier, on Derry road, across from the airport.

I sprayed the whole case with 1/2 a can and that will last 2 good years.

If your a Canadian and you are buying from the USA, always have the purchase shipped to the nearest port of entry, that way you can clear the product through CUSTOMS your self and save brokers fees ($35 to $150 and unnecessary duty)

good luck

Another option is AMSOIL Heavy Duty Metal Protector (http://www.amsoil.com/products/amh.html) (sim-to cosmoline). It sprays on easy and forms a durable waxy coating... not as thick as the LPS. I used it to undercoat my truck...

I get my LPS-3 from a local TrueValue hardware store.. They do not carry it on the shelf, but can order it and have it for me in 2 days.. I like it as a chain lube for my MC http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Smile.gif
