Hey,

Looking at keeping my 2002 LB7 and trading my 2003 Tahoe against a 2004.5 LLY..........

I can get either a LB7 or LLY.........almost the same price.

So, is it worth it or too many growing pains ?????????

Get the LLY you will love it. Worlds of difference and the aftermarket will catch up quick.

Only complaints is slightly worse towing mileage and slow turbo spool up. Spool up problems were improved by disconnecting EGR and hook up Edge. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I love it other then that. I kind of wish that I waited for an 05 with a sunroof.

Had lb7. now i have lly. GET LLY, disconnect egr and run with the attitude. It will leave you grinning. Plus you will leave a lot of ricers at the stop light wondering what just blew past them with a cloud of black smokehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif

I drove an LLY the other day and I was not impressed with it at all. I was pulling a trailer with it and it seemed sluggish. Not sure why, trailer only weighed 10K lbs and just did not seem to have the power I thought it would. Pulled that same trailer with my truck and I could tell a difference... Guess it might have been just me, not sure...

Don't know give me a couple weeks. Just picked up a 2004.5 Ext. Cab SWB LT Silverado in Carbon Metallic. Looks real nice next to the 01.

I have had my LLY since May and pulls trailer just fine.

It seems like it has more power new than my broke in LB7.

Since I had 7 LB7 u can tell a big difference from 6-9,000 miles and new.

It starts faster (usually no glow plug wait) and the EGR fix took care of a lot of the lag.

I'm ordering me an 05 Monday but it won't have sunroof since first quarter 05 release http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

I'm surprised at comments about slow turbo spoolup. The variable geometry turbo was supposed to give quicker spoolup than a conventional turbo. That's the whole idea behind it. Fast spool, acting like a small turbo, than controlled boost at higher power levels, without overboosting.

Hoot,

I think it all has to do with the programming and what you're after. When I first found out about the LLY and it's turbo, I thought it would be for performance since the VVT can improve that. Then Eric chimed in with it being for Emissions and EGR flow...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

That made more sense about GM spending that kind of money on an upgrade to an existing and perfectly functional turbo system. It also might account for the spool up in part, keep that back pressure up for the EGR. Or it may be that the programming of the ECM is just being more careful with the output in 1st and 5th. Or a combination of both.

But that's just speculation on my part. Seems like a good theory tho, doesn't it? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif
