When I saw BigdaddyG's post "More filter pics." I finally got the incentive to cut my old filters open. And I always enjoy lookin' at good filter pics so I thought I'd share mine.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

I had about 2,000 miles on the OEM when I installed the CAT in the pre-oem position, on the frame rail. So this is a CAT with 10,000 miles and OEM with approximately 12,000 miles. No fuel additives were used.

This mess below is the inside of the CAT can'... That scab funk is loose and not attached to the can. I think it may be sediment? I don't think the canister is rusted but the junk seems like it could be rust although I reallty don't know.

I am considering additive to remove water from the system and wondering if it might help reduce the scab next time. GM says no emulsifier but I am thinkin' primrose 405 might do the trick.

Any opinions or thoughts?Edited by: lttlfeller

GM says no emulsifier but if you use de-emulsifier that waters going to settle in the tank or firsssst filter and then how do you get it out of the tank. In fact how do you know if there's any water in the tank after using the de-emulsifier. We need someone to come up with a drain pet cock for that plastic tank.
