: Problems since new want someting different

What does everyone suggest for a tuner, anyone one else offer safety measures like banks? any imput would be appreciated. Want to go big but stil have stock alli

May con John into letting you try some stuff at his openhous too if your willing to head north. Edge has all the built in protection as the banks and its the only one I'm aware of besideds banks that has the EGT back down. Supposedly runs a bit harder than banks too......but a 90hp level on the juice is as high as I would go on a stock ally, higher than that and you are playing with fire. But if you dont mind doing a ally upgrade(it would probably be a good idea to do it first but...) crank her up, let her rip and smoke em if ya got em(tires, out the exhaust, and your clutchpacks)
Edit: how big is big? Are you out to give it the most nuts possible? Or just a pretty bad assed program? What are your goal?

So it's the 'gun. What exactly is wrong with it, if you don't mind my asking? As you know, I ended up with a defective one, but they replaced it immediately with no questions asked.

Ratlover, how far north and where? How big is big? that i dont know but a pretty baddass program sounds good. I still relatively new to this seeings this is my first diesel, and dont know a hell of a lot about them.
And johnb it makes a popping noise at hard accel and high rpms and defaults to stock. Throws a injector signal fault. Truck runs fine with box bypassed or not installed. They at banks said they have not seen a bad module for the dmax yet. </TD></TR>

Victory Red 08-22-2004, 11:10 AM I agree go visit John. Not only does he have about every box in stock, he'll probably let you drop a tuner in your truck and take it for spin. Since he lives in the middle of nothing, you can also somewhat safely beat on it to see how good something actually is.
I've test ran several boxes from him, both on his dyno and street pulling(even had a few rides in his personal rig).
Plus he's a no pressure salesmen, I still have yet to select my new box, but when I get it it will be from him.
Hopefully your new 6-gun they're sending will work correctly. Please let us all know how it goes. That's a very interesting problem. If it doesn't, I would definitely test another maker's box just to make sure there's no issue specific to your truck when adding boxes or tunes. There's a lot of 6-guns out there working fine, and there have been a few defectives reported and replaced.
ratlover 08-23-2004, 10:01 AM Never had a no start with my juice? Some do and some done. Biggest.....I believe the TTS extream is putting downt the most #'s right now. Gota have a trans though. Also pretty expensive. But if you were happy with just pretty stout a juice and later getting the full bore version may be pretty good bang for the buck if your not interested in making the most HP possible. But atleast the juice stacks well with things if you get a juice and decide the hot revsion wont be enough. VA has trans protect in the lower tunes and on down the road it could be upgraded to a pretty bad box, not top dog i dont hink but still reaaly stout.
Edit: one thing that sucks about the VA box and juice that the TTS and quad have is the "boxes" dont alter your limiter, not a big deal unless you are dragracing, then hitting 97 or what ever willrealy suck.
I live in spr, go to peoria bout every weekend and travel over to bloomington quite a bit so from one of those 3 places a bit more north aint a biggy.Edited by: ratlover

#1 determining factor here is: Do you plan to spend approx $3k to upgrade your transmission?
If the answer is no, then I'd suggest nothing larger than the VA 110 or Juice 90...

Or talk with Eric(dmaxallitech) and he will do the whole deal for ya and you wont have to worry about droping an allison and squishing one of your buds. I did my level 3 myself, good times good times

ratlover 08-30-2004, 01:15 PM You can go that route but it is spendy. The core charge you get dinged when you buy the level 3 is for the converter.
EDit: I would venture to say that the removal and replacemnt is the most....well I wouldnt say difficult.....but the most chalanging and PITA part.
