In reading the posts here, Ive noticed a lot of youall are going with the Nictane preOEM fuel filter.

Before I shell out some $ to clean my fuel up better, does anyone have data/opinion on which system is better: FASS or Nictane?

Oh, and hi everyone! Im a newbie to diesels....just took delivery of mine end of June....VERY happy with it. Had an avalanche before this. THis truck rocks!!! Only problem is that after reading what everyone is doing to their trucks, Im getting the power bug....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gifEdited by: dojohnso

Hi there!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

The last I checked the Nicktane is a filter while the FASS serves as both a filter and a lift-pump.

Extra filtration is good, but keeping the fuel under a slight positive pressure, as a lift pump would, is better, IMO. That is in ADDITION to the extra filtration.

There are several equally viable choices discussed on this board. Get used to utilizing the "search" function.Edited by: T-Rex

Another viable option is the Racor unit that was built expressly for the Duramax trucks. We had our dealer get GM's approval to install it, and I hired the dealer to install it for me so it has become "an official part of the truck" with appropriate blessings and pontifications so that there is no warranty issues.

Yea, I did the same with the Nictane - dealer install and blessing. He even threw in the holy water.
