One of our truck stops here in town is offering a soy biodiesel blend in one of their diesel pumps. I think I remember hearing that it was a 10 percent blend but I'm not sure. The fuel attendant said that it offered more lubricity like the the older higher sulfer fuels offered but with out the sulfer. My question is, is it safe to run in my truck. More lubricity is better for the fuel system, right? It's a little more expensive than regular #2 but if it is better for my truck and the added soy diesel won't hurt it then I think I might use it.

Biodiesel is better for your truck - BUT it contains alcohol which might dissolve rubber hoses and sludge in your tank (from old diesel). The rubber hoses and gaskets have to be special made to withstand the alcohol,
VW makes their diesels like that for years, others might not. Special the Japanese (Duramax..) are hesitating to do. Without asking GM and would definitely NOT do it. Used it on my Landcruiser (old model) and the sludge in the tank dissolved clogged my injection pump - loss of power (50 %)...only way to clean it again was new filter and as much normal diesel as possible.
Safe is plant oil (contains no alcohol) but needs to be warm because its thick. Smells like french fries from your tailgate...
Have fun!
