one guy said if i wanted blacksmoke to dissconect a wire on the wastegate. would this be safe? would it affect the sound of the turbo or the truck?

If you do it you will loose a lot of power and possibly overheat the engine.

you have to decide what you are willing to give up to impress your friends.


i made the comment as more of a joke then a suggestion. you will lose a lot of power and a some fuel economy if you do this.


but i left some pretty good trails of smoke when my wastegate system was inoperable..........

Before I figured it out here at the forum, I was pulling a 5 ton trailer home and up some steep hills smoking like a steam locomotive and couldn't get it to maintain 50 mph. I'd have to say I'm happiest when I don't see smoke.
