Ok, so I have heard some people here on Diesel Place talk about the New 2008 vs. the New 2007.5 with the New body style and the LMM Duramax.

While the new body 2007 is coming out in the next month or 2 here, other people are talking about a 2008 model Duramax coming out around August or later.

Will there be ANY CHANGES at all from the year 2007.5 to the year 2008 Duramax HD Trucks???

While I dont think I can wait as long as 2008 to get my Duramax LMM, I would still like know what changes will be made (if any) on the 2008 model.

Thanks.

Hopefully the answer will be "no changed for 2008" :) From what I've read, GM calls the 2007 an "interim model year" so there might be something new coming out soon.

You have to remember that the 900 was suppose to be a 2008 model. GM pulled ahead the launch of the pickups three months to create a 2007 model. There will be about three months of production for 2007 before they change over to build 2008 in the late June/July timeframe. There is not going to be hardly any change to 2008MY. You will probably see items like large tires and trailer brake offered on more models.

Does anybody know if the corner bumpers on the 2500hd will be plastic like the 1500? I was at a chevy dealer today and got a hold of those corner bumpers on a 1500 and It's all plastic with nothing behind them other than the middle section chrome is metalYou have to remember that the 900 was suppose to be a 2008 model. The picture of that LMM black 3500 dually's front bumper in the last issue of "DIESEL POWER", was mostly chrome and nothing like on the new 1500's. The 2500HD's maybe different when they come out but I doubt it.

Thats what I figured MTU. Some very minor changes, but hardly anything noticeable.

However, im sure both the 2008 and new 2007 with both have the new LMM Duramax with the same emmissions equipment right? I dont really see them changing the drivetrain for 08 at all, since it will be a new re-design already for the new 07...

The drivetrain and emissions will remain the same for 2008. The next major change for emissions comes in 2010.

Hello all! New guy here. I currently have an 02 2500hd duramax and am looking at getting a new gmt900 3500hd dually.

Ok.. so here's the rumor I have heard and hopefully you guys can assure me that it is false. The rumor is that because of the rush to push these 7.5's out gm only modified the 800 chassis(only on the hd's) to fit the new bodies and that the 08's will have the actual new 900 chassis with a higher GCWR and tow rating. Anybody else hear of this or have i recieved a jumbled up twisted mess of a rumor?

I hope that's not true. If so, I'll have to wait even longer for a new truck!

I hope that isn't true also because GM would be taking some trucks back. I read in a recent magazine that more good things will be coming in the next few years and he writer wouldn't be surprized to see 800 ft-lb advertised soon. If we're getting the 900 chassis and there are no major changes for '08 then I will be happy :)

The local dealer had a gas HD on the lot so I took some shots...I got out and grabbed the bumper corners and they sure feel and sound(when tapping on them) like plastic...I took some shots of the suspension and it appears to not changed (don't think they were supposed to from what I understand).

My modest opinion? The front end of that truck is too big and bulky. It is not proportionate to the rest of the truck, especially with the small tires and stance. The hood looks goofy as well with those louver things on the back. From the beginning of the cab back looks good to me though...I just really think the front end is ugly.

I saw some 1/2 tons on the lot and they looked much better in the front as the grill and bumper were quite a bit smaller.

I don't want to offend anyone here...just my opinion, thats all. Maybe they will look better lifted with some aftermarket bumpers...hopefully

This 900HD may grow on me with time but I am definately not laying awake at night trying to think of ways to get one. I finally got mine exactly the way I want it and I intend to keep it for a long time. I suspect most D'Max owners will feel the same way - and that opinion is based only on styling. Once I start thinking about all that emmissions plumbing and stuff this new style rig just aint cutting it with me. THat new new Tahoe is another matter altogether - that's a nice truck.

I think it looks great. It's a HD the front end is supose to be bigger. That's just my opinion. Besides if it looked like the 1/2 ton everybody would complain, like they did on the 05s and 06s.

Someone in my office just saw the pics of the white truck above. She said "it has a big honker and little feet". :D

I almost spit my lunch out when she said that! :)

I couldn't have said it better. I see the dealer across from Walmart had one the other night (xcab-gasser), so I swung back around to take a look at it. It really looks under-tired.

I read in the new Silverado 1500 brochure that if you get the Z71 option, it comes with 18" wheels. I hope that's the case with the HD's.

will the 1/2 ton bumper be able to bolt on to the hd. I like the halfers front bumpers all painted to match It will be nic if they are interchangable like we have done in the past by putting a SS bumper on the front of a dmax.

I looked at a 2007 2500HD Tuesday and it had 265/70 r 17 tires, which works out to be around a 31 inch tall tire. It looked a lot better than the 245/75 r16's on pre 2007 models.

Unfortunatelly they're not interchangeable the hd's are about 2 inches bigger we tried with my buddy's wt. but don't you worry they'll be paintable aftermarket in a month or so my buddy is into aftermarkek accesories and he's planning to make some big bussines for a year or so till everybody gets all that chrome off.will the 1/2 ton bumper be able to bolt on to the hd. As am I in the aftermarket buisness Street Scene is usually pretty good about getting products out fairly quick just havent seen a HD come through the shop yet so didnt have a chance to size one up yet. Other then the front looks I like the way they look Interior is a huge improovement. The GMC's as always I think have the upper hand though.
