Wohooo, no more clunk. Time will tell if this new part holds up. Good timing, 33K miles and climbing..http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif Edited by: VFRRider

I am having mine done today!

The lift amplified the clunk big time. Hope it works out.

Were you guys feeling a clunk when turning going over bumps? It feels like my tire is flopping when I am in a long turn. I guessed it to the I-shaft or a tierod end.

TIA

Before the lift it was only felt turning. After the lift it's 'amplified' and felt with driving on bumpy roads and freeways.

I went to pick mine up yesterday and I get "Sorry we THOUGHT we had the parts here but we ended up having to order the shaft"
I think to myself 'thanks for wasting my time'

Getting fustrated with this whole steering issue. I have complained about it since day 1, took it in for a 'greasing' of the splines. This lasted for maybe 2 hours. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Then I ask 'isn't there a part that can be replaced to fix this?' and I get a NO. Then I dig into The Diesel place, find the TSB and FAX it to him.

Got a totally different story after that.

Right behind you! Did you go to Buff Whelan by any chance?

You trust Buff? I'd be scared...

Honestly, I know of no real good dealerships in the area. Most are a bunch of hacks. You are covered by a 12K warranty on anything that the hacks decide to work on though after they do it.

Only until you go to a certain dealer in the west part of the state where a guy named Eric works, might I trust them.....

I'm going in when it gets close to the 36K mark for my final warranty.

It was a clunking on low speed turns, and when going over small bumps at low speed. Almost like a dull popping you feel in the steering wheel.

Just an FYI guys, I had the clunk fixed 5k miles ago, at 34K total miles, with the new steering shaft and it is starting to clunk again. I have not been back in yet to get if fixed again.

I've had the "lube job" http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif done 3 times now, and they replaced the steering shaft twice. Still have the problem. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif But I go in on Tuesday for the "new and improved" steering shaft, so hopefully GM found whatever the problem really was and I'll be done with this PITA issue for good.
