Here it is I was driving in 4wheel drive on Sunday and I heard a very loud noise so bad I looked behind me to see what had fallen of my truck, anyways to make long story short here is the pictures they speak for them self.

Opps! Looks like that may recover though... I've exploded several 10 bolts. If that bolt looks like the one I am thinking of, the GM house keeps them in stock. Did anything get broken or just the bolt backing out and getting bent?

Well the spider gears pin has a little damage so I will be contacting eaton tomorrow and they need to send me a new e-locker this is a real dumb mistake in there part.

thats installation error. whoever installed the unit needs to check it out. that crosspin keeper bolt backed out and then got into the pinion gear. i would go back to the shop that installed it and find out why that came out. locktite needs to be used.

The e-locker comes from Eaton assembled it there mess up in my eye's
The only thing the installer needs to do is install the ring gear and check the back lash and pinion depth.

They will more than likely tell you to take it to the dealer though.

Yes this time deffiently, you would think they would take care of this when they build the diffs.

Is the front one the same as the semi-floater rear 14 bolt? If so, the pin is probably NOT tightened from the factory since they expect the installer to remove it for c-clip installation. Usually diffs that don't require spider gear pin removal for installation of the axles use a roll pin.

It will be interesting to see if you even can find one. They've been on back order for many months now. Some distributors have or had stock, but now they say end of April.

Is this on your 05'?
If so don't you want the dealer to fix it all for free? (if your still under warranty)

This is an aftermarket Electric locker. It's not a GM OEM item.

wow.,..... i had a few diffrent "locker" type diff's in my past rock crawlers and never done dmage like that ... and i tryed aha.... i hope they stand up and make good w/ this. i wanted to put that same diff in my truck at some point!

So anyways they wan't me to send the diff back and It could be gone for a couple of weeks or so, you would think that if they left that loose they would put a red tag at the bolt that would say caution tighten bolt to a specific torque but know they do not give any warning in instruction....

who installed the unit? doesnt installation require the installer to remove the screw in order to remove the crosspin and install c-clips that hold the inner axle stubs into the housing. If that is so then that was not installed at the factory it was installed when the diff was put in. and locktite is the resonsiblity of the installer. if i was eaton i would not warrenty that unit for anything, the installer should of taken care of making sure that was locktited.

There is know reason to remove that bolt, are front diff do not have c-clips
so why would the installer mess with the bolt..

Maybe this eaton unit fits more than front diffs. Any ways, if it ain't in the directions, it's their fault.

Actually it's up to the installer to make sure everything is good to go. You wouldn't drop a short block into your truck without at least a thorough going over.

Anyone ever hear of NVI... New Vehicle Inspection.... performed on every new vehicle soon after it gets dropped off at dealership.

I tried to buy an elocker last year for the front diff and was told they were discontinued because of lots of problems with them. I ended up with an ARB air locker.

NVI or PDI (Post delevery Inspection) as we called it was nothing more than a visual inspections for the most part. Check for damage, fill washer fluid add front plate bracket go for a 5 mile drive and put gas in them, took all of a half an hour. Do you really think they check torque or anything, if it runs and isnt leaking anything thats it. Point blank the cross pin doesnt need to be removed to install the axles so its on eaton not the installer. Same as the short block, if they sent it to you and left the rod bolts loose so you could plasti-gauge but didnt put any warning about it, then its on them.

how long was it in there for? if the installer was to touch it(not likely on a chevy front install) eaton would say that its not there baby. just like if you got a new long block and started messing with stuff, bye bye warrenty. its eatons baby. i bought my locker 2 years ago, they said there was a waiting period, got mine in 2 weeks. dont know what to tell ya
