I'm getting my ECM and TCM updated tomorrow.


Is there anything else I shoud have them check while it's hooked up?


My truck had 52,000 miles on it when I bought on May 1, 2003. It currently has 84,000+ miles and I have never had it in the shop.

Basically if you get all current upgrades and your paying the $100 dollar deductible have them check all the diagnostic such as trouble codes and balance rates of injectors.

As Mac said, have them just give it a good check out.. Without any problems, they can just give her a good once over, but I assume you already know the truck pretty good

yes sounds like you have a good truck. i wouldn't add anything to what eric and mac said.. unless you can get them to check the alignment too for the 100 bucks.. it may say which updates they install if they list it on the receipt. when i first had mine done in 02 they listed each one..

2. Is it worth having them done?


The truck is going in next week for some warranty work and if it's worth it I thought I'd have them do the update also (if I have a choice).

OK I'm a little confused.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif In the bulletin column they all read 0. Does that mean no updates?

That just means there are no bulletin's released about the calibration.

without knowing the current calibrations that are in the truck, its impossible to tell if any updates are needed, the only way to tell whats in it is to plug into it

Just got back from the dealer and the technician said it had all the latest updates. I guess it was done by the previous owner.


There were no error codes set and the injector balance rates and rail pressures were perfect.


The "Grey Ghost" got a clean bill of health!!

Hi Gary, I apologize for jumping on your thread but I thought it was a good one.


I too thank all who replied. Since no one has replied negatively about dong the updates I'll get it check to make sure I'm current.
