: Sudden power increase
porterc5 01-30-2007, 09:53 AM My truck has about 104000 mile on it and this morning I notice a large increase in power delivery. Not sure if I should be worried about this sudden change, or just be happy about it. Is it possible the fuel preasure regulator is going bad? By the way the truck has no fuel managment devices connected.
clancutters 01-30-2007, 09:55 AM Is it blowing black smoke out of the pipe, which would indicate excess fuel. Also fill out your signature and tell us what kind of truck you have. Look at my sig
porterc5 01-30-2007, 09:56 AM No. All appears to be O.K.
BlackSSmoke 01-30-2007, 09:59 AM where do you live? Cold dense air has the effect of making more power. :)
porterc5 01-30-2007, 10:01 AM I live in central Colorado, and the air temp has been around 20 deg. for the last few weeks. By the way I have an 03 LB7 w/ Allison.
clancutters 01-30-2007, 10:08 AM I dont know that there is an issue with the sense of increased power. One for sure way to tell is if there is more black smoke coming out of the pipe. But if the smoke is at stock levels (almost none), then she must just be runnin like never before!
BlackSSmoke 01-30-2007, 10:10 AM OK. Maybe is the cold dense air then.
Just so ya know, under User CP you can go and update your signature so you dont have to tell people reading your posts with questions what year truck or what you have done to it etc etc :D

porterc5 01-30-2007, 10:13 AM This worries me!!!!! Has anyone heard of a wastegate failure resulting in excessive pressure build?
porterc5 01-30-2007, 10:20 AM Maybe it would help if I described the amount of extra power. Burned the tires through a 6 lane intersection, transmision shifted up through 3 gear. It has never done that before!
Lennox69 01-30-2007, 10:21 AM your foot must gotten havier:D

God bless on Dmax power, baby! Thats what I say. :p:

My truck is blowing excess black smoke and is hitting higher boost levels than ever before. It also takes longer to start.
jugdish35 01-30-2007, 04:28 PM youre a lucky man!!!! maybe......
porterc5 01-30-2007, 10:20 PM I figured out the problem. The differnce lies in the transmision TC. Lock up is happening sooner. The learn mode was reactivated earlier this month.
schulte 01-30-2007, 11:27 PM ....then she must just be runnin like never before!
six days on the road, and i'm a'gonna make it home tonight :driver:
Dave Dudley anyone?

I don't know how that would affect it that much? 1st gear still only has the amount of torqe applied to it by the engine? Those with much more knowledge then me may respond but my stock 03 has never smoked the tires across 6 lanes... come to think of it I have never smoked the tires,, actually, I never tried. To much $$ tied up in it. :D
tmg115 01-31-2007, 11:44 AM i have never been able to smoke the tires from flooring it. i have to power brake and it will only smoke them in first gear. this is on edge set on level 4
jtoyo007 01-31-2007, 06:41 PM My truck did that kind of thing once while my wife was driving. She ran a yellow light and hit the throttle and lit up the tires. Never could figure why it did this.

Are you sure you do not have put gaz instead of diesel in the tank by mistake the last fill-up?
slow300z 02-02-2007, 03:39 PM Are you sure you do not have put gaz instead of diesel in the tank by mistake the last fill-up?
yes im sure i put didnt put gas in cuz that tank is a mile down the road from where i fill up the truck gotta love 500 gal tanks and the gas tank is olny a 250 gal
chevsforever 02-02-2007, 09:30 PM I notice my tires breakin loose easier too. I thought its because its so freakin cold here the tires and asphalt are cold and the tires dont grip as well? It sure is fun breakin the posi loose and puttin it semi-sideways. I just wish I had sea level power instead of 8500' ! I envy you low altitude guys!!
slow300z 02-09-2007, 06:30 AM on gps im olny 310ft above sea level and its dry air
