Please give some input on the 2001 2500HD im looking at buying from a good friend of mine. He bought a new 06 dually duramax and I can get his for $14,000. It is very clean in and out and very well maintained.

It has 4" exhaust and cold air intake, 285's on stock wheels, 4x4 extended cab shortbed, ...seems like a good deal since it books for $18750 private party. It has a Transfer Flow toolbox tank that holds 30 gallons. A Gooseneck hitch is installed, fifth wheel hitch rails are installed, and a 10,000 lb hitch on the back of the truck.

Additionally got a brand new motor 25k miles ago from the dealer. Apparently the injectors failed and filled the crankcase with fuel while pulling a steep grade with a 5th wheel behind it...all the fuel in the oil caused it to eat the bearings and in order to get out of the road he had to stay in the throttle to get off, the motor literally locked up solid when it came to a stop.

So its got a replacement motor/injector replacement with 25k on it. Truck has 151k miles on it.


What do you guys think?

Not to mention there is still 50k worth of warranty on the injectors
