What is everyone really doing about there 10yr/100K warranty and the lifts and add on's. Has anyone actually read the fine print of the GM warranty and decided that a bolt on exhaust kit, or a Cognito leveling kit won't throw away the ~2K spent on the warranty. One dealer I was at when looking to buy my truck said that they do leveling kits and lifts, and they will warranty them. Is this a seperate warranty from the big GM one. In socal, I would guess at least 10% of the trucks sold off the lot have lifts of some kind on them. Are these people fine with buying a 40K truck with a voided factory warranty.

If I do decide to do the Cognito kit and a bolt on exhaust, how would I find out from the dealer if they have a problem with it. The exhaust is not a big deal. That could easily be put back on for warranty work. The cognito kit would require an entire day to take off and put back on, if you wanted to hide it from the dealer.

I really want do do some minor mods, but not if the dealer is going to laugh at me when I have a warranty issue.

Can some of you with experience please shed some light on this issue?

Thanks,

Darin

It all depends on the dealer and how much they want your business. The General himself doesn't know these truck are modded..

First i dont think it was a good idea to spend 2k$$ on a extended warranty if you want to make tons of mod on your truck.

First, I don't think it is a good idea to buy a Chevy without a warranty(Peat). I didn't say I wanted to do tons of mods. Just a leveling kit. Has anyone gone to the dealer and asked about certain small mods and been told it would be fine?

I think it is usually just that dealer that did the install. If in doubt, get it in writing when the ink is still fresh on the bill of sale.

First, I don't think it is a good idea to buy a Chevy without a warranty You already have the standard warranty and extended one are a waste of money when you buy a chevy truck imo. Not the same thing for a ford...
