We recently moved back up to the frozen tundra of Northern Minnesota. Anyway, I have a 2003 2500HD with 64K miles. Here's a little background before I get to the problem. I have the Nicktane filtered installed which was recently replaced. I put 1/4 gallon of PowerService in my tank each time I fill up with fuel. I would think this should prevent gelling...:D I always fill up at a pretty good station in town, same place all truckers get their fuel and run no bio in the winter. I did run it for a short time this past summer. I always warm the truck up at least 20 minutes and use the block heater at night. I also have a CloudRider stainless winter front over the grill.
Anyway, I tried to go to town this past weekend. The temperature here was about -8 with a wind chill of about -30. Started down the driveway and the truck stuttered and would not accelerate. Went back to the house. I then removed my Edge and disabled remote start, thought maybe one of them could be the culpret.
Then this morning, I took off and headed for work. Figured, well, worst case I would have to drive slow to work. Got going down the road at 62mph just fine with a 20mph quartering wind, went about 3 miles. Truck ran fine, then turned straight into the headwind and truck did not like the idea of going over 35mph. It just stutters when you try to accelerate. Luckily my commute is only 6 miles. I do have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow morning but don't want to take it into them unless there really is something wrong. Hate to have to pay $100 for them to tell me it is freezing up.
Do you guys think it is gelling with the wind or do you think there is something else wrong? Never had a problem with this truck before and have had it since new.
Thanks.
Curtis
