If you use one that does diagnostic as well as monitoring real time parameters, and doesn't cost 2 grand, please let everyone know.

Ditto on the Predator, I dont think a week goes by that I dont use it for something. It will read and erase codes, all but tcm codes. It also shows diagnostics but not as much as a regular scanner would.

Car Code has some parameters you can view realtime. But it doesn't compare to a Tech II.

Bully dog has a "Snooper Dog" which is supposed to work with a Palm to do a lot of live stuff. I ordered one the day they put them on their web site and after two months of waiting I ended up cancelling it since I aquired a Tech 2. It's worth a shot to see what it does though...

Considering the power pup for the LLY, does it also remove codes for other vehicles?

A used snapon scanner.....they can be had for reasonable. If you get the up to 01 cartrage it will do a 03 duramax(duno about doing a 04 lb7 but I assume it will) Real time, does other vehicals, clears codes. Not as good as a tech 2 but it was much cheaper.

Remember that you can also talk a snapon man down especially on used stuff.

I never thought I would be buying snapon because it was the cheapest option and it wasnt the top of the line toolhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif But it works reasonably well. I've used mine on my duramax, and a power stroke and a 6.5 thus far.

Make sure you get the right cartage to do what you need to do and get the right "personality keys" if you get one.

To get one to work on an lly you may be stuck buying a new cartrage though and I think thats in the 5-7 range. so you would probably have 12 or so in it if you have to buy a new cartage and get a used scanner???

Any other ideas? Reading up alittle it sounds like it would be best to get one with CAN capability, the present standard.

Needing something that would do other vehicles.
