After the engine and transmission are up to normal operation temperatures, what determines when the converter goes into lock-up? Is it just speed?

For you guys with the SC III mods, will your converter lock-up when overdrive has been cancelled?

Thanks.

Converter will lock up in 5th gear and in tow/haul it will lock up in 2nd and the rest of the way up. So if OD lockout is on, it wont be locked up unless tow haul is on.

My observation has been 52-ish MPH in normal and 22-ish mph in TH. Based on transmission output shaft speed.

it will lock if you lock out OD. Suncoast dosnt change when the converter locks, ats does but not SC. You converter will also lock at WOT even if your not it TH.

Edit: load also affects the lock up and how hard you are into it.Edited by: ratlover

Mine (stock tranny) will not lock up in 5th in the morning until the engine temp reaches 142 on the attitude, never noticed it until I got the juice/attitude.
