Funny thing, Was at the Dealer today. Big dealer ,sells GM, Ford, Dodge, was told that GM's point was the 4500/5500 are true med duty trucks, the 450/500 are just beefed up 250/350's. I said that's fine but I'm not buying it cause the 450 is rated to tow 33k GCWR, while the 4500 is 26k. Sales guy said that's cause the 450 weights less thus can pull more but won't last as long doing it. I told him the GM need a 3500HD, 30K tow rate, 4:10's, 18's or 19'5"s, add 4k to the sticker and they would sell a ton to the RV and hot shot crowd. He had a pickup 08 450 on the lot, just over 53k, nicely loaded, I told him that GM was missing the boat.

Very true. The decision makers at GM are like a lot, change that to most, of our politicians--they don't have a clue about what is happening outside their own little world.

You're right! They don't have a clue what's going on in the outside world. They dropped the 8.1 from the pickups and now don't offer a serious gas engine for towing. I just can't imagine buying a Ford but I may not have a choice.

They did for awhile. LEts face it guys, the 6.5 was underpowered and in serious serios tow applications, the 4l80 wasnt nothing to brag about. NOw that they got their act together, (duramax allison), I think if they tried it they could make it work. I really think they are missing out on a crowd. Sometimes, the smaller truck (a pickup size, height) is nicer to get in and out of, w/a service truck easier to work w/(not everything is up so high, easier to see abacking up (plow application) etc.
