seems like i got a problem. i go start my truck up today and the thing is smoking blue smoke. bad reall bad and when i gave it gas is puffed blue smoke. i drove about 20 miles or so and it cleared up but now its knocking. it sounded like a gas engine that was about to blow. knocking like a bastered. it first only did it at 2200 rpm's+ now it does it all the time. i had the egr unpluged for 1500 miles and i just pluged it back in and its runs the same. i am gona take it to autozone tomorow and have them clear my codes and off to the dealer. once the code are cleared will the the dealer see that the egr was unpluged? in other words will the coads still be their?

Even if they see the codes from the egr they will not be able to tell it was from the egr being unplugged. It will just indicate a egr malfunction...how it occured could be a million reasons...good luck and let us know how it turns out and if ya need more info.





on edit: I wouldn't get the codes cleared at all...it could hinder the tech in finding what is really wrong....Just my opinion...anybody else?Edited by: dpower

but on the fords if a code is set the comp remembers the date and milages at the time the cose was set. i dont want to take it to the deeler with him saying the light was on for 20 days and 1500 miles

Did you get a light when you unplugged the egr?....If thats the case then you maybe better off getting the codes cleared.

yup i did and ya your right because if i go get them cleared and the light comes back on i will be golden. i hope.

Once the old set of codes are cleared try this: Hopefully your truck will still be actin funny, drive the truck a few miles, shut it down and repeat several times. By cycling the key over a few times the MIL should again come on minus the egr codes...unless the egr is part of the problem...in any case it should only record from the second MIL light issue...that is if the computer does have any memory at all. Its still worth a try I think.

ya ok thanks for your help i will do that. i wonder if i can get a doner car off of them? how hard is it to get a doner car and is it really worth it?
