My brother has an 01 HD that once in awhile the steering is hard to turn, like the power steering is not working then as if someone hit a switch it works again. Any ideas?

Faulty Hydro brake booster. Any leaks in the area?

This is the HD with the 8.1 and the huge tires right? Just like your truck it uses Hydroboost, so the brakes also tap power steering pressure. If it's only happening when he's on the brakes he's just flat out of pressure. If it's not related to the brakes it might be a valve.

No leaks. Yes the truck with the 35's. We will swap the tires and head to the dealer to see what they say. Thanks

My 98 did the same thing with stock tires,faulty Hydro Booster was the fix.
