Had a few questions about the t 304 stainless exhaust from mbrb. How does it sound in the cab? Is there any drone? I am looking for an exhaust system that isnt too loud would this be a good one?

I have the 409 cat back. From the cab I can tell almost no difference. Standing outside I still cant tell much of a difference. The only time I really hear it is on start up. I was hoping for more of a difference. Most of the folks on here really love them.

I have the MBRP 409 Single. With the Cat and Muffler, it is hard to hear any difference from stock. I thought mine was too quiet and so I got the muffler delete pipe and cat-less downpipe. It's pretty throaty now under boost/load. I really like the sound....but definately much louder than just the MBRP std system.

Can you give an example on how loud your truck is since the muffler delte pipe and catless pipe? Is it louder than a straight piped 5.7 Vortec or something?

I have the 409 cat-back single. I think it sounds pretty good. Not too loud, but noticeable. NO drone whatsoever. Seems to be a little louder now that I have the Juice/Attitude on it. I think it's a great exhaust, and was very easy to install.

Now, I wont say easy to install... The directions might as well of been a used piece of toilet paper. You really couldnt tell which hanges go where and there was an extra hanger.

abbo7,

Check our site (www.dieselperformanceparts.com)for (http://www.dieselperformanceparts.com)for) sound bites and installation instructions and lots of other info too if you want. Here's a link to a review done on the duals on this site too:

I just installed mine tonight. Impressed with the quality etc. Is there any way to make it louder? If I do the front pipe will it be much louder?

tws_andrew,

Your signature doesn't show what year 6.6 you have but if you have the 2004 with a cat and replace the front pipe it will make it considerably louder, if you have a 2001-04 non cat 6.6 it will make a little difference but not a ton. We do have muffler delete pipes available for the single 4 inch systems if you want to try that as well.

I have the Aluminized 4" muffler and can tell the difference in the 1500-1900 rpm range in the cab. Still haven't ordered the resonator from Mark yet (I will though). The noise level is noticeable in that range in the cab (city driving) but out on road its not noticeable. Towing in that rpm range will remind you that its not stock, but its not obnoxious. I just want the EGTs low and the quietest truck going.

As a kid we used to build "sleepers", i.e., cars that looked like they couldn't get the job done, then blow the doors off every one arround! Worked until the story got around. Then pull engine, tranny, etc., and drop 'em in anouther junker. Well as I got older I wanted the "sleeper" look like this truck, so I want it quiet and unnoticeable. Love the "what was that thing?" look in their eyes!

Besides, wifey doesn't like noise any more than me. And she IS the boss!

Any of yall running a tip? I cant seem to get placement right so that it doesnt look like a rice burner.

TEXMudder,

Most folks cut a little off of the tail pipe so the tip is tucked up under the truck a little, we make the tail pipe long enough so that those that don't buy a tip have the correct length anyway etc. Hope that helps.

I cut quite a bit off mine so that my 5" tip mounts almost all the way back at the bend. I also put the tip up high so it is close to the bottom of the rear quarter panel. It seemed to hide it a bit better. I think I may want an angled tip or maybe go to a 4" though

A straight piped turbo diesel sounds barely throatier than stock at idle or when not under boost. When under boost it sounds like a combo between a jet engine and a big block chevy with a flowmaster on it.

I'll put it this way, when I pass someone at WOT, they tend to move to the right a bit when the sound scares them http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I like it.

I have the MBRP 409 cool duals, turbo back, with 5" tips, and it sounds perfect! Like said b4, on startup, a deep rumble, then the turbo comes in,real cool! In cab at 77mph,nice deep mellow tone,no drone, does not interfere with conversation, music, etc.,but get on it,everybody moves aside, cuz th' King is comin' through!! Even all my Ford buddies admit it runs and sounds good.

I heard one rumble through the parking lot at the local fair Saturday night and it sounded tough. I know it had to have a straight pipe on it because nobody probably knows about the MBRP mufflers around here.
