Is there a trick to changing out the lift pump, so I do not get completely soaked with Diesel?

there is enough vapor lock in the tank and from the motor that you dont have to worry about it, i lost maybe a cup of diesel when i did mine in a parking lot at the beach. no big deal. its an easy fix
