: Really bad fuel??

We headed out on holidays on sat. morning, trailer in tow,no water or quads onboard ( total weight @ 15,000#'s). Burned half a tank of fuel in 100 miles, Not the normal consumpsion for this rig, usually gets at least double that with another 2000 #'s of gear loaded. Noticed a lack of power, I am usually able to hit 85 mph easily when passing slow traffic, but was only able to get to 70, even if I stayed into it. Was not a happy camper, started checking this and that trying to figure what was happening. Since the last trip I've changed oil, fuel and air filters. Not to go on any longer, after topping the tank at a truck stop, the milage improved along with the power(not to usual standards but close). Could a tank of fuel really caused me this much grief?

I think it could. I see variations in mileage on the same road and day between fillups at different stations. Not dramatic differences, but 1 or 2 mpg. There is a certain Chevron I avoid because every fillup there has resulted in lower mileage and power. The Fina down the street (w/ filters on the pumps, BTW) hasn't caused this problem.

my mileage dropped 2 to 3 mpg towing as well as solo on this last tank of fuel. i will attribute it to sh*t fuel...and the price...well thats another story..later ,bchttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
