: Tuner for Rent?

Does anyone in the DFW area have a tuner (Bully Dog, Predator, Superchip, etc...) that they would be willing to let me use to raise my speed limiter? I would be willing to make a contribution toward your cost of the tuner. I have a 6 Gun on the way so I don't need the power enhancement, just the speed limiter change. I can't see buying a tuner just to do that. If anyone is willing please PM me and let me know what you think is fair.

Sorry Braz, they dont work that way. You can only use a tuner on one truck at a time. If you use the speed limiter in yours, then it cant be used on another truck until you return yours to stock.

Doah!!! It figures. I guess I have to decide how badly I want to go faster. Right now not bad enough to spend $300 or 400 bucks.

Thanks.

I *think* quad has a low cost option to blast the limiter.

Or buy a used unit.

Speed limit is only 65, your truck dosnt cut you off before there does ithttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

No, I haven't been impacted by the speed limiter yet. I just don't like there being a restriction if I decide I want to try to go 100. I have never checked to see how fast my truck will go but I understand that the limiter kicks in around 95 or so, right?

I duno.....never been over 65, speeding is illegalhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Stern Smile.gif

But 98 or so sounds about right if I were to guesshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

Quad and predators do some code reading/clearing and readjusting for tire size too IIRC and I believe the quad that zaps the speed limiter will do the code reading and tire sizing and stuff, just no power.

Talk to quad or one of the quad selling vendors here though, I'm sure they could tell you without having to go off my memory

Mine is 96 on the factory speedo. It isn't like some older governors I've seen where it 'bounces' off the governor. This one just climbs right up to 96 and then sits there. You can have your foot ON the floor, bending it out through the floorboards and it won't go any faster. Haven't compared it to the Attitude displayed MPH.

Just head over and see Quad -- and trust me -- you want the power (although the 110 tune is most I'd run with a stock trans). Stock it would take all day for a Duramax to hit the speed limiter. With the 110 tune you could from 50 to 100 in less time than a stock truck would take to go 0 to 50 (or close to it I bet). Kind of like comparing an RT 100 to a KX 125... On top of that fuel economy is slightly improved if you can manage to keep your foot out of it.

W/ the 265 tires u should hit 100mph anyway.

Put some 285 on it and get close to 105mph.

Why the 6 Gun? Sounds like a TTS Power Loader II would give you more of the features you are looking for. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

I don't want to get into a debate about all the different boxes out there and which one is better, etc... The speed limiter thing is not really something that played into my decision about getting the 6 Gun it was just something that I would have liked to take care of if I could do it cheaply ($50-75 or so).

Actually there is something out there you can do and I think it will work on your 02... Do a search on the topic: DELIMITER or SPEED LIMITER I think you will find something that MAX POWER talked about and might work on your truck. You might also want to PM him directly and see if he has an idea... Good luck

Yeah, I think I saw a post from him about that. It involved cutting some wires and losing your speedo or something like that. I pretty sure that I don't want to do that. Anyway, I am not looking to turn my truck into a dragster or race car so I can live with the speed limiter as it is.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Braz, find someone who is getting a new pred or is willing to order "ticks" for their old one. They can make that one predator work on two trucks. I have no Idea how much the tics are.......... might want to call John Kennedy or Diablo direct.
