Hello everyone, I am a newbee to the site. I currently have an '05 LLY. I am looking to trade it on an '06 LLY, but am wondering if the difference ($8000.00 cdn) is worth it? I've only had the '05 for about a month and have notice that there is some rearend slippage. I had a factory dealer look at and they say it may cost around $1000.00 to repair. Warrenty history shows there has been some transfer case work done (51000km). There is now 63000km on the '05 and 43000km on the '06. So my question: do go for the '06 or repair the '05.

i would repair the 05, you will take a big loss on a trade financially. What do you mean by rear end slippage? The rear diff. lock is a mechanical design that i am aware of with no clutches to fail. I may be wrong so if anyone else reads this then please speak up. If the rear diff is the problem then either rebuild it, replace it with a detroit locker or replace the whole housing from a wreck at the local junk yard. I myself would go with the detroit. It would be the the most dependable solution in the long run and possibly cheaper.

i would check into the slippage as stated before they dont slip.as for the detroit, by the way you are talking in km not in miles you may be from the great white north:) ,if so detroits dont do so good on icy roads:eek: also too harsh on tires for a daily driver IMO.was the transfer case work due to it having a hole in it from the keeper ring rub??? if so that is probaly a good thing.you may go through it again with a newer truck something to look into.i think that problem exists with your year truck:o: i also agree with the money that you would loose on a trade

Thanks for the replies. As for the slippage, it used it for a lack of a better term. To be more specific.... accellerating from a complete stop I feel kind of a clunk on initial take off, but cannot really hear anything. The service manger and I drove around the city for and hour with his code reader hooked up and said there is nothing wrong with the tranny. I did have them look at the rear end and they said something about clutches and they would have to take the RE apart. As far as the transfer, all it states on the warrenty info is R&R. Would I not get better economy with the 6spd? Oh and yes I am a Canuk.
