My question is related to another topic concerning a bad vibration/shake a few of us have and is posted in the "Ask the Tech's" forum ... here http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9844&PN=1

What would cause my engine to shake/vibrate when increasing RPM sitting in the drive way? At around 1K rpm I can feel the shake ... up around 1400-1500 rpm it's really noticable and you can feel it in the whole truck ...the motor also shakes also. When I go back to idle the vibration goes away and the motor does not shake.

This feels like the same vibration I'm feeling in the truck under load going down the road but it's much more pronounced going down the road. I thought it was the Juice but still does it when removed.

Is this a gasser or a diesel? It sounds like a engine misfire in that RPM range.

It still could be a injection problem. Try listening to the exhaust note while someone increases RPM to vibration range. If it stays clean and smooth than something may be wrong with flywheel or torque converter balancing and if so you need to get to the bottom of it before something is damaged. THere is not many things it can be but my nickle is on the injection timing or operation.

I had an old gasser with a TC going bad used to shake like crazy just sitting in park.

The TC was unbalanced and when it got really bad it could shake the radar detector off the windshield.

That didn't last long, she puked in short order.

But snoman could actually be right this time.......might be further back in a part of the drivetrain that spins at engine RPM.

I am usually right a lot more than I get credit for...
