Would a wheel alignment be nessasary after adjusting the torsion bars to gain 3\4 to 1 " of ride height while at the same time installing new shocks like Rancho 5000?
If so how is the wheel alignment accheived? Do they adjust rake and camber along with the tie rods or just the tie rods themselves?

Yes align front end. Alignment is done by turning upper control mounts, look at them and you'll see they're adjustable, and toe is set by turning tie rods. cranking T bars moves top of tires in (neg camber) and increases toe in

Are there any negative longterm side effects for cranking the torsion bars to get an extra 1" of ride?

From what I have been reading If one were to crank the bars and then drive around like that then tire wear and steering component wear would be accelerated. However if 1" was added and then the truck was taken in for a camber adjustment, wheel alignment, and caster check then everthing would be just as durable or wear the same as a factory height. There is a difference in doing something and doing something properly.
So to answer your question in short, yes if that is all you do.
But if you get the camber adjusted and wheel alignment then the answer is no.Edited by: AbsoluteGMC
I would get it aligned for sure for the reasons listed above.
These tend to be a little off from the factory anyway.
