Well I decided after looking around seeing a few pictures on here and asking a few questions that I was going to get some new wheels. I saw two really nice looking trucks, one black and one silver birch that had the Pro Comp 6001's on them and decided that was the wheel in 18X9. Thought I would never buy an 18" wheel, but I did. Going to wrap them in Toyo 275/70/18E tires so that I will have a true 33" tire.

Have keys on the way and going to level it out and get them installed.

Will post pics as soon as it is all done.

which trucks had those rims on them. I too have thought those look good.

Cstevenson, look at his profile and there are a few trucks around here that I have seen. They look good.

I just bought some 18X9.5 Pro Comp 6001's. Obviously I am going to have to buy new tires. I am pretty sure that I am going to get the Toyo A/T's as I have had such good luck with them in the past. So here is the dilemma.

Should I run the:

1. 275/70-18E tire (which is 33.2" tall and 10.8" wide.)
2. 275/65-18E tire (which is 32.1" tall and 10.8" wide.)
3. 285/65-18 tire (which is 32.6" tall and 11.2" wide.)
4. 325/60-18 tire (which is 33.3" tall and 12.8" wide.)

Now when I had my old truck I ran 285/75-16's, which is 32" tall and 11.2" wide and did not have any rubbing issues. But now with a standard offset and 4.5" of Backspacing, the wheel is going to stick out a little further.

Should I run the 275 or the 285 as not to have any rubbing issues?
The 275 and 285 are similar in size but just not sure which one to run. Not sure that any of these sizes will make that much difference, might have to do a little trimming and am not concerned with that. Here is one thing to consider though, the 275's are "E" rated tires and the others are not. I don't want to have to do too much trimming, I like the look of the 325 and have not seen many pics of the others, but I pretty much know what they look like as I did have them on mine, just in a 16, so kind of strung up here and needed some opinions.

Any one else have experience with any of the other sizes listed and if so, what has been your main impressions?

325s!!

Well I have decided on the 285 since it was as close to the original setup I had on my 2004 and I know it will fit and clearance will not be an issue. I don't want to have to trim and cut the fender, valence and bumper so I just went with the 285. Should have been able to figure that one out on my own but after talking to several shops and a few friends, I got to see a truck today with a similar setup and 325's, he had severe rubbing issues and the front bumper and fender wheels were torn up from tire rub, I did not want that.

Well rims will be here Tuesday and I have decided based on another post and asking some questions to go with the 285/65-18 tire as I know this one will fit with no issues. I will get pictures up as soon as I get them on the truck. Still have to get my keys and front end alignment.

Anyone with pictures on a truck? I don't want to see lifted trucks just stock height with torsion bars raised. I was actually thinking about getting those instead of running the 275 or 285's and just wanted to see clearance, especially if you have a GMC...

Thanks.

I have the Toyo 33/12.50-20 M/T's on my CHEVY truck. I do have all the stuff in my signature (Cognito Leveling Kit, etc.). The truck is about level, I might but a 1" block in the rear. It does rubbing a little bit when I turn the wheel all the way to the the left in a tight turn. You can look in my garage to see what they look like. Also do search for member "Dunefreaks", he has 33's on 18's and thats what gave me the idea of going with 33's.

I love my tires and think they look really good in an 18" and 20" wheel. Overall I have heard nothing but good things about them. I would get them again if I did it all over again. Hope this helps...I would go with them.

mine are close to the 33x12.5x18, pics in garage. Personally I like that size better than the 325's I've got but I wanted an AT.

Cool thanks for all the pics. I knew that I had seen some on here but could not remember in whose profile. Depeding price I might do these instead and then when they wear down go with the A/T, just to see the wear differences and attitudes of the tires.

Well because of stock and back-orders I went with the 285, so hope it looks good... Maybe I will do these next time.

Tires are not showing up until this morning so I am ready to get them mounted an on the truck, should have pictures up later today or tomorrow.. They are going on today as long as UPS shows up with my tires. They were supposed to be here Thursday but they called and said they did not ship out when they were supposed to, figures, but was told they are on a truck headed my way....

According to him that is with no lift, torsion bars turned up and a little rubbing, but that is to be expected. I am going to get those tires after I run these down. I should (fingers crossed) have pics up today...

WOW!! That is just BAD ***!!! Perfect IMO. Thanks, i think i found the size i want now! Any " different" feeling with the bigger rims? great choices! BTW, what was the rim offset/backspacing again?

Cranked?

Ya I have the bars turned up but not all the way.

Do you think you could have gone bigger without too many issues??

Honestly, no.. I had to do some trimming and it was only rubbing when I back up, but I think I fixed that tonight. Those are 33.5 which is bigger than I thought they were going to be but that is ok..

They ride excellent and there is a little different feel in the steering wheel with them but I will get used to it. I love them and like I said the ride is awesome.

Running 55psi all the way around for now, going to adjust as I get them broken in.

Well I think they look great, but I was wondering if you could list out exactly what you ended up with. I guess I got a little confused with all the maybe's and might's listed in the earlier posts. I am going to be due for tires, and would not mind changing to 18's. I really, really like the looks of yours and its just the look I would want on mine.

I went with the Pro Comp 6001 18X9.5 4.5BS, 285/65-18 E-rated Toyo A/T's.. Installed green keys and turn the bars up a little. Truck goes for an alignment tomorrow.

Ya I know I went back and forth a few times because I kept thinking about the money spent on tires and that they would be on my truck for a while so I wanted to make sure that I covered all the options before getting everything. I do that from time to time, but once I set my mind on it then it is a done deal.

02-18-2007, 09:22 PM
Well they look good on your truck and if I hadn't had to replace my OEM's so soon I would have gone with new 18 inch wheels and tires.

GMC2500HD
02-18-2007, 09:25 PM
Thanks.. Well I don't drive that much so I only had 7200 miles on the stockers. They will sit in the garage now unless I have to take it in to the shop for work that is drivetrain related and then I will switch them out.

I went with the Pro Comp 6001 18X9.5 4.5BS, 285/65-18 E-rated Toyo A/T's.. Installed green keys and turn the bars up a little. Truck goes for an alignment tomorrow.

thas what size it looked like. look good. and many inches you crank and any trimming involved? im planning on 305/65/18s on 9" wide and 4.5" BS is why im asking.

GMC2500HD
02-18-2007, 10:46 PM
I had to trim the lower front valence about 3 inches at the bottom and in a angled line up the side about 6 inches, does not look bad at all, unless you are really looking for it you can not tell. As far as the bars, not sure how many turns. I have the front setting at 41.5 inches to match the rear so it sets level...

GMC2500HD
02-18-2007, 10:48 PM
Oh also had to trim the front fender liners on both sides since it was hitting when I was backing up and turning the wheel. I just trimmed the drivers side up about 5 inches and the passenger side about 3 inches. Once again you can't tell unless you know what you are looking for. I will snap some more pics when it is clean.
