I'm looking to install a CB radio in my truck. I am having problems finding a place to put a CB, not even to mention the antenna. Does anyone have any recommendations? I currently have a Cobra 29WXNWST which is rather large (http://www.walcottcb.com/cobra-29wxnwst-cb-radio-weather-p-514.html). I am not completely opposed to buying a new radio, but I would rather not, of course.
Please include pics of your setup if possible.
Thanks.

I have the exact same CB as Pavelow installed in his truck. I actually put it in the same place as well. Funny how great minds think alike! My antenna is mounted in the bed stake hole in the front left corner of the bed. Works great and stays clear of my 5th wheel while cornering.

I put this cb Cobra 75wxst http://www.cobra.com/index.php?page=shop/flypage&product_id=5&id=1 in and strapped the miniature brain box to the metal upright inside the glove opening. Then to mount the mike, i attach a 3 hole mike holder (I use Kenwood's) to a panavise mount http://www.panaviseonline.com/product.php?id=1089on the dash.
Best part is I can unscrew the mike lead for security. I have this setup on 7 GM's and have never had a problem and it looks clean.

Thanks for the replies!
I guess I really do not know how to use the search function...When I searched "CB" it came back with no results, and when I searched "CB Radio" it came back with a whole crapload of them not relevant to cbs. I guess I'm an idiot :(
Anyway...The only problem with installing the radio in that bottom pocket is that I already have a DVD player there. Does anyone have any experience with a remote handheld deal? (http://www.walcottcb.com/cobra-75wxst-remote-cb-weather-radio-p-520.html) How do you like yours, heymccall?
I was able to make a sweet mount for the antenna. It's in the front left bed pocket...I'll upload some pictures if anyone is interested.

To search a subject like this, use the "search this forum" function, and go to "advanced search". Searching on just the term "CB" will give you a bazillion hits - so limit the search to titles, and instead of using "CB", use "CB install".

I really like them. Good sound quality, range comparable to a stock 29ltd, durable (we are a sewer contractor), and every one shows 4 Full watts on my bird watt meter. The only complaint is my workers aren't smart enough to all the features like weather, 2channel scan, and full scan.

heymccall, well I ordered a Cobra 75 and it should be here by Monday...I hope I like it.
Man, did any of you guys have a REAL hell of a time getting the CB antenna coax into the center console? Maybe I just went the hard way, but that was a pain! Got it done though.

Anyone know if the speaker output on the Cobra 75 is adequate enough?

The speaker is plenty adequate but there is a ext speaker jack on the brain box you tie up under the dash.
The antenna wire will not go to the console, per se. It connects to the brain box under the dash. You could put the brain box in the console, I guess.

I finished installing my Galaxy 73 tonight along with my 4 ft Wilson mounted with a merchant mount. Since my radio is so large I had to put it on the driver's side of the console so that I could easily reach it and adjust knobs as needed. I wasnt happy about having to mount it on the side of the console but it looks decent and is not in the way.
