This is not a diesel-specific question, but I thought someone out there might have the answer. We have a 2003 GMC K1500 that was a theft recovery and needed the 4wd module and radio replaced. We took the truck to a dealer to have used parts programmed to work in this truck. Dealer says ECM won't take a code so we supplied a used ECM. Now dealer is saying these ECMs are 1x use and once a VIN is burned into them, they cannot be reprogrammed and we need to pay $750 to get a new computer. Sounds fishy to me. Are they right, or could they just be using a software system that doesn't let them reprogram?

Send me the info on the ecm, hardware, software, etc.

Diesel, Gasser, etc.

If all you need is a stock tune reloaded you can ship it to me and I'll burn the ecm with a stock tune for you.

the 2003+ gassers use a 1meg flash P59 PCM.

LB7's used an older style ECM with a 512kb flash.

I tried flashing an LB7 OS into my dad's 2003 tahoe just for craps and giggles and it didnt work. rejected the bootloader. maybe you'll have better luck than me. :D :p:

If I could name anyone that would try that it would have been you Ben :rolleyes:

Aside form that, the LS1 PCM and LB7 ECM have different internals aside from the flash chip, if you somehow managed to get it to flash in I'd say you would just create a door stop once the flash completed.

2000-2002 and 2003+ LS1-style ECM's are NOT compatible tho right Ross? They switched from a 512k flash to a 1meg flash in 2003 I think???
