Greetings

I have a 01 LB7 with 36k on the clock. I changed oil at 32700 and reset the computer. I went on a 3k road trip towing a 10lbs trailer. At about 3700miles from the last change the oil light comes on just after start up. Does the computer moniter the amount of contaminits in the oil? Or is this just a computer glitch?

Thanks in advance for your advice

Search for "oil monitoring" or similiar on forums and check here:

There's also a slim chance it didn't reset last time. On both my truck and the wife's Trailblazer if I don't pull out the floorliner my chance of successfully resetting the oil minder are slim.

Kaching, I would suspect that your oil change light came on because of your 3k towing of a dangerously under weighted trailer. At 10lbs, your engine thinks it is working 3x harder.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif Just pulling your chain.

Given that there is a service bulletin out that says GM is going to the oil monitoring system. Which takes precedence, the owners manuel with changes at 5000 or 7500? Or the oil monitoring system?
