I have an 04 2500HD 4x4, D-Max (LLY), Allison. It would seem that the transfer case is an NVG263SHD, product order code is NP1. The best I have been able to do is find the low ratio for this xfer case (2.72.1) and not the high ratio. Would you be able to provide this ratio? Would it be safe to assume that the 2WD setting would be the same as 4HI? I have a 6 inch lift on the truck, 315/75/R16's, and travel the highway frequently in mountainous country. I am attempting to determine my best gear change (tranny temps seem to rise at highway speeds now) and could use this info.

Thanks.

NVG 263 SHD Variation

Transmission: M74-Allison
Input Gear: 29T spline
Output Shaft: 31T spline
Chain Size: 7/16 x 1.5 in.
Hi/Low Planetary: 6 Pinion
Application: K2, K3

Not exactly sure how to figure this out but does 1.87 sound right?

I'm not sure. I called the dealer this morning to ask and they confirmed the low ratio at 2.72:1. The guy there told me the 4HI and 2WD ratio is the same thing and said it would be 1:1. Even he had a tough time finding it, it wasn't listed in the part description. Where did you get that number?

SWAG. Creative math using the numbers above. Maybe you just take 31 and divide by 29 or vice versa to get 4 low. That would be 1.07 or 0.94

Please forgive my ignorance, but what does SWAG mean? lol

Sorry, that's Navy speak for Serious Wild A$$ Guess. Ican't remember how I got that number now. I must have been just plugging numbers into the calculator and got fat fingered. Spat out a number that sounded reasonable. You'll find that I'm King of Random Thoughts.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif I was really hoping that by putting the data out there, someone a lot smarter than me would be able to tell you what the ratio was. Sorry it didn't help.

HIgh range and 2wd ratios are both 1:1. Ratio tag on case is for low range only
