Just got back from a trip to Colorado. On the way there, I passed through a construction zone outside Des Moines and got some gawdawful crap all over my '04 D/A. When I went to a car wash in CO , it wouldn't wash off, even with a high pressure washer?!? I then tried some dishwashing detergent, full strength. Still no luck. The surface felt gritty. I called back to the local stealership and the body shop guy said it was probably powdered cement and thought I might have to have it wet sanded and repainted. By now I'm really nervous. In desperation, I reached for my can of Honda Pro Cleaner and Polish which I usually use for my moyorcycle. SHAZAM! Whatever it was that was on there immediatly started to disolve with a liberal spray-on application of the cleaner and light wipes. It took 3 cans to complete the cleaning process but it works just great.

Probably asphalt crack sealer. A round here and probably there the will cover it with sand ,gravel, sticks ,stones whatever the hell they have swept up it seems.
My wife drove thru some of it once right after applied and then a flash rainstorm. It covered the car like molasses and sand stuck near wheel wells, horrible.
I got a estimate to detail the car,got paid and the Insurance company went after the state for reimbursement.
Oh ya WD-40 took it off nearly effortless.

I came across some stuff called Chip Seal. Nasty stuff when first laid out on the roads. WD did get rid of the heavy stuff, but then I used the clay bar to finish it off.
I always TRY to avoid any fresh oiled roads or freshly laid asphalt roads for atleast two weeks after it has had time to let the traffic mash it down or get it out of the way. They always leave little pebble size chunks of asphalt on the road and on the side and when driving on it, it will get kicked up on your paint.
You would think the city or state would clean these projects up to avoid issues like this. I know they are laying down a lot of road at a single time and it would take a while to clean it up, but they have a lot of people just standing around it seems like.

I've got a friend who ownes a house in Winter Park and stayed there. Took the motorcycles out there to try to scrub off some of my 'flatlander' mentality.
