I have a 2004.5 2500hd chevy i look under the hood and i don't see any where that tells me if it has CA emissions or federal or northeast. Is there actually a northeast standard for diesels.I live in maryland . Thanks for the help.

You can look at the RPO plate in your glove box. I'm not sure what these mean, but here they are:

NA1, Emission System GVW less than 8,500 lb
NA2, Emission System GVW greater than 8,500 lb
NC1, Emission System California, LEV
NC8, Emission System California, ULEV
NF2, Emission System Federal, Tier 1
NF4, Emission System Clean Fuel, Fleet
NF9, Emission System General Unleaded
NT8, Emission System Federal, Tier 2 A
NT9, Emission System Federal, Tier 2 Phase-Out
NU4, Emission System California Level 2 Plus
T8Z, Emission System: Low Emissions Vehicle - Mexico

Those are the only ones I saw listed (might have missed one, they aren't all together) in Helms.

Doesn't really answer your question, but I hope it helps,
Dennis

Look at the decal under the hood. It will say this vehicle conforms to xxxxx emissions. There are two types Federal or Calif. and Northeast.

Where exactly is the decal under the hood? I couldn't find anything with emission info on it. I did find the NF4 code on the build sheet in my glove compartment, though. Who would have ever thought that my diesel was "clean fuel"?!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Sorry to hijack your thread, gary1, but I'm still trying to figure out why my LB7 had a catalytic converter on it, but no EGR.

The decal ia typically on the radiator fan shroud area. It is not just an emission decal it will list other things but the last few lines are the emissions statement.
