I have a Predator and I like it allot. From what I've been reading I think Superchips nets the best fuel milage.

You should get better mileage with either the Hypertech or Superchips. Predator is a bit hotter of a tuner.

I have had the power pup, tripple dog,the predator and now the ppe.The ppe has the best drivability. the predator is close though. And with the ppe if you ever want to pop weelies you can do that to. LOL!!!!!!!!

Dan

I read the info on the link you posted above and I'm wondering how this programmer compares to my Hypertech or the Predator? My Hypertech is just now beginning to shift better as far as defueling but it still upshifts VERY fast finally after about 3000 miles.

If you want better mileage, I would suggest the hypertech, it is a very mellow programmer that will give you that little extra power that you will need to get better mileage without breaking the bank or your truck.

my mileage improved slightly with my bully dog power pup. That is when I'm not gunning it passing and off the lights :D

Has anyone ever used the Superchips? How idiot proof is it?

If you can read the screen, then 'you can do it'. Its a simple OBDII plug-in device, just like the others mentioned here.

Of the programmers on the market, which ones have programmable on the fly capabilities? I think Bully Dog is the only one. How often do you need to update or upgrade the programs inside the units? Do the manufacturers make changes often? I am also in the market for a decent programmer that offers a little more power, but retains that smooth stock shifting and drivability.

edge with attitude monitor will also give you the option of programming on the fly. I think Banks also sells a unit too.

I installed the Edge EVO 2 weeks ago. I have only stayed on level 2 and my milage is the same as before -which says alot because I cant keep my foot out of it. LOTS of POWER!

In looking over some of the specs for each programmer, some state HP/Torque gains at the rear wheels, and some offer HP/Torque gains at the flywheel. There are obvious power losses going from the motor to the rear wheels. There should be an industry standard for all of the specs. It seems that owners who state better MPG gains with Hypertech and Superchip, the programmers have slightly less torque gains associated with the HP gains. Compared to the Predator and PPE that don't get major HP gains, and there numbers have slightly higher HP and Torque numbers. I'll go out on a limb and state the MPG gains are more closely related to torque numbers. Examples:

Predator Hypertech Superchip PPE Bully Dog
45 / 100 48 / 87 65 / 114 70 / 140 48/??
65 / 140 70 / 131 86 / 151 160/290 69/150
85 / 170 95 / 175 119/206 225/390 138/298
120/250 (not sure)

In short, the more mellow the programmer, the better the MPG gains. Anyone with more expertise, please jump in! I'm only a rookie.

Sorry, the above post ran together. It is not how I typed it. It bunched up.

I'll try this again:

Predator | Hypertech | Superchip | PPE | Bullydog
45/100 | 48/87 | 65/114 | 70/140 | 28/63
65/140 | 70/131 | 86/151 | 160/290 | 84/150
85/170 | 95/175 | 119/206 | 225/390 | 110/200
120/250 | | | | 138/298 CL

Some are torque at the rear wheel, and some are torque at the flywheel. I got the Bully dogs numbers from their tech support, and the others from their web sites respectively. Any insight into these numbers?????

Do all of the programers interface the trans; the reason I ask is I had a stupid-duty with the SuperChips programer and it shifted like crap! I currently have 06 lly crewcab dually. Want to do power upgrade but dont want to deal with trans issues! Any help would be appreciated!!

These programmers dont affect your tranny its just that your tranny has to relearn how to shift. With the added power the shift points are different, with time everything works fine. I recommend the the edge w/attitude or the hypertech.
