It was a great day out at Garmon's Diesel! As always Jeff was a great host and David and Mike were running the dyno. Plenty of Dodges on hand, a few Fords and a couple of Duramaxes.

Here are some photos, and of course the obligatory dyno sheet. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

742.5 HP and 1445.9 TQ is not too shabby for a single box! The Kennedy VA 200+ with injectors and a good shot of N20 is an animal. The Quad 215/HJAT 145 stack with the injectors ran strong also.

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/dyno3_Medium.jpg

Here is a run with just the HJAT 145 with injectors and another run with just the VA 200+ and injectors. The Juice fell off on the top end whereas the VA just kept pulling.

Here are all of my runs for the day. The truck was insane on the rollers when you hit the squeez

BMDMAX,

Great numbers! I can not believe how clean you keep your truck. You must really love it.

Questions. Did the Quad 215/HJ run at 476/905 use NO2 ?

Did you do any runs with NO2 and then without, all other items the same?

Just trying to figure out how much the bottled air helps?

BMDMAX

Bronco,

The 476/905 run was just the HJ 145. It was not stacked with anything and was not on nitrous.

The biggest number I had that day on diesel was 508. The biggest gain we saw from the nitrous was 272 HP, and it never even cleaned up on those runs! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif

GJ, I don't think having the gate down helped too much but it was surely much easier getting to the bottle! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

What were you using to extend the RPM's on the HJ and VA 200 runs ? Some runs go to 3150 and others to 3500. Looks like the injectors didn't do much on #2 from your old runs http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif but, boy it sure brought the NOS runs way up! Great runs with the NOS.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

DT,

I was using the Quad to get rid of speed limiter on all runs and I got the most extra RPM's when stacking the 215 tune. The low RPM run we actually let off on near the top.

Some video of the runs here:

Wow, you've still got a tonne of smoke. Looks like the nos cleared it up some, but not alot. What jet are you running???? When i ran 2 high jets it would clear out pretty good, some blackish/grey haze......comparable to a 125hp edge probably.

What did everyone think?????? The dodge boys gotta be wondering if we are gonna catch them........as we're knocking on the door http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

The first run was on the bottle. It still seemed like it had a good bit of smoke. I was running a 90 jet, single stage.

The second run was just the VA 200+ and was smoking like a freight train. Of course, just like a little freight train compared to the Garmon drag truck.

All brand wars aside, it was kinda like Larry the Cable Guy: "I don't care who you are, that's a pretty good number there!" http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Good running!

Shows pretty clearly that the 470-500ish range is about it for #2.

Also seems that stacking yields pretty low bang for the amount of added fuel. Also interseting to see the red lines go up earlier in the first 2 charts. Could be less overfueling with that tune http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

So I take it the dyno will not plot abouve 1400lb/ft?

I was running a 90 jet, single stage.

WOW 272 extra HP with nitous. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif I clean up the extra fuel from the Quad/Edge stack and stock injectors with a 59-62 jet (single stage). Are you spraying the nitrous in at the IAH? On the track you would need a progressive controller with a single stage setup or a two stage setup to make that big of a jet work IF you could keep hooked up with the 2 wheeler.

Great Job Brandon. Brandon just snatched my dyno record from Opie when he made 738 at Muncie. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

John, I was running my older software which I like better. And it caps at 1200/1200.

The southern air is horrible for making power with diesel only. I see it over and over. With Brandon's truck, you could see the injectors were adding fuel, but there was not enough air to burn it. Of course that bottle fixes that problem real quick. You could see the injector gains better with the HJAT #2 run. On previous runs with stock injectors, I believe we saw 420hp. With more air, we probably would have seen better than the 470 range we got on injectors IMO.

Let me tell you guys, when I hit that button, the run was over!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif Look at that darn torque line go straight up to 1200. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

I hope a ton of you guys come to the Atlanta Race Sept 11. Should be fun, Brandon can tell ya, I root for anything that makes big power and goes fast. That is really all that matters to me, not what brand it is.

Correction factor Saturday was 1.02 last time I looked.

Thanks for everyone that came out. I had fun being able to BS more Saturday than on most shop days.

Yup, spraying right in the IAH. I was not able to start the spray until about third gear with a 60 jet on the stock injectors. I have trouble hooking just on diesel so this setup at the track might be a bit scary. I guess I am gonna find out! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif

You are right though, a good progressive controller would be the right setup.

Did you run all your dynojet runs in 5th gear like the two in the video? i'd be curious how much difference it made if you ran some in 4th? or was that the standard for the event?

Great work again on the 742!

BMDMAX

All of the plots are 5th gear runs. David and I almost always dyno in 5th. We have tested in fourth as well and see very little difference between the plots. I guess it was the standard since no other Duramaxes went up on the rollers.... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

I remember the first time I saw a Mustang hit 700 on spray on David's dyno and it was a rush just watching it. Sitting in the cab of a diesel truck and doing the same was even better! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

Not that it really matters but that is the Drag Truck. The Dakota went bye bye last year.

The drag truck made 664hp on #2 only. We have been testing a few things down here and that was one of the dyno's to varify a few things. Time for more dense cool air. This darn southern air just really kills power when trying to make power on #2 only. Jeff's goal is 750ish on #2, THEN he will shoot it with a little NOS.

September air is generally cool up here. A bit damp in the mornings, but cool and crisp. We'll see how Brandon's truck likes it in September.
