Anybody have problems with one side of the DRL's going out. Noticed that when I use the remote to unlock the truck, the DRL on one side is out. There is a light in rear and front(DRL, I think) that activates - both are out on the right side. In the last two weeks, I have seen three other D'max trucks with the same problem on the road - one side of the DRL's are out. I havent investigated it on my truck to see if its just a bulb but seems odd that a rear indicator bulb and front (DRL) would be out at the same time. Hope, I explained this clearly enough.

I think thishas been a characteristic of chevy trucks for some time....Since like late 90s....First few yrs it seemed ot be passenger side one that went out, but on the newer 02-04 seems to be driver. I had one go out on mine right after i got it in may....I posted about it nad remember i thikn it was Eric, saying how there was a bullentin to change the bulb to a different one or style. However with saying that both front and rear are out, makes me think theres something bigger at work..I wonder if each side is ran by like one of those box fuses or something? Does everything else on the lights seem to work? Brake, turn reverse???

Driving around town here, I'd say over 50% of the GM trucks of SUVs have at least one DRL out. Its kind of funny.

You probably see them burnt out all of the time because the driver never sees them because if they are out of the vehicle they are not on. And they are on a lot of the time. When I bought my '02 w/54,000 miles both bulbs were out. I figured they were disabled or something, but they were both out, I replaced them with amber bulbs.

Are you sure it's the DRL bulb flashes when you unlock w/remote? Mine flashes the parking lights only, no DRLs. Maybe the 03's are different?

Yes, the back could be a parking light that is coincidentally out too. I notice it when unlocking the truck with the remote and always do this when walking up from behind. Then, I notice the DRL is out when seeing the reflection from the car in front of me at a light. So, it looks like its probably just the bulb then , not some fuse or other electrical problem? Thats a good thing. I can replace the bulb. Already passed the 36K warranty. Thanks

Buy some LL Long Life bulbs for peplacements. They last longer.

Also the parking lights flash when the alarm is turned off but my DRL and reverse lights stay on for a minute to light up around the vehicle when your walking up to it for security reasons. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I know I had issues with the bulbs in my 02 HD, they went out all the time. I had to get new ones about every month or so. One would go then the other. Turned out to be something electrical, go figure. They finally fixed whatever it was then I got rid of it. Edited by: GMC2500HD

My 2001 3500 has never had a problem w/ the DRL. My 2003HD its the socket that the lights plug into. The white socket is turning brown, almost a burned color. Pulled the light out(passenger side only) plug it back in and its good for awhile.

Had to replace both my passenger side DRL and back-up light last weekend. Both sockets seemed a tad fried or turning brown.
