I noticed several small dents in my filter, probably from stones thrown up by the rear tires as I drive on my LONG gravel driveway.
Has anyone already invented an easy to install and remove shield to protect the filter from further damage? The Cat filter is strong, and I'm not too concerned that it will puncture, OTOH I'd like to remove the issue from my "worry list".
Thanks for any suggestions or leads to solutions.

Thanks Nick. I think I'll have to make something. I beleive my problem is that I pick up some of this nice NC red clay and then drive on my gravel driveway at my house construction site, and gob-up the tires with crushed limestone which finally releases and beats the heck out of everything. This will get better as time goes on and the construction comes to completion and the driveway gets some more stone. It would still be a good idea to invent a good shield.

it must be the combo of that stuff... my 2 buddies both live on LONG gravel roads and never have any dents.. buts it pure gravel and dust.. no clay to make it sticky..

I installed mine with the shield to the rear. I am glad I did. This weekend I literally drove 40 miles of bad road. Ruts, washes filled with water, mud, rocks, etc.. I have chunks of rubber torn out of the tires and the filter shield is covered in mud and pebbles, but no damage to the filter. The tiny bit of the filter that extends below the shield is untouched for some reason. I am glad I took the extra time to install it this way.
