Yes, it's me again with engine questions.

What are the markings/guage used for on the bottom of the timing cover next to the harmonic balancer? Do I need to transfer this to the new engine? If so, what are the screws holding it to the timing cover. They look like torx screws but have a pin in the middle.

Those are inverted Torx screws.

That would be for a timing light I guess.

Never used one on my truck yet.

Those are torx security screws - takes a torx bit with a hole in the end.

That timing tab should be timed to crankshaft TDC, then tightened.

You can get the tamperproof torx bits from Napa. They have a pretty good price on the set NHT-31704. Set of 8 with 1/4 drive socket adapter

If the engine has timing that is electronic why should I bother transfering the gauge over?

I was wondering the same thing.
