I Just found this site and I think its pretty cool.I own a 2002 c/c s/b 2500 HD with the 8.1 liter/allison combo.I love this truck but am sick of the 8mpg.I have an ' 05 3500 c/c dooley on order with the duramax and allison.I test drove an 05 last week with this combo for two days and loved it.But now after reading some entries on this site im a little bit hesitant on buying the duramax because of this injector problem. Is it worth taking the chance?Should I stick with the 8.1(8mpg uugh)?I will post some pictures of that 05 if I can figure out how,I think the new font end and hood look sweet.

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Hug.gifWelcome! IMHO, even considering the injector issues with the previous models, it's still the best choice out there. I'm guessing that not every Duramax will experience injector problems and what per cent of current models have, or will have, injector problems is probably a guess. And what might, or might not, happen to the '05's is also a guess. You can have trouble with anything, life's a crap shoot. From what's been said on this board, GM has taken steps to address the problem, although service and satisfaction seems to vary widely. If you liked it for 2 days, then you'll love it!

Don't get scared off. Most of the Duramax's are operating great. Fit, finish, looks and great options make these trucks the best out there. I truly love mine and feel sorry for others who chose other brands and paid just as much.

Even with my engine having gone at 11000 on my 2004 w/ LB...

I wouldn't trade it for the world. I love this truck. Every vehicle has issues with this that or the other thing.

Injector problems are far and few between. A lot of guys post there problems on this site but it is a VERY small sample. Do it, its a great truck!

They already redesigned the Injector system for late 2004-2005 models, and even with a problem, GM is taking care of it.

I heard of a product called stanadyne, that might help with lubricity problems some of these systems have had. Supposedly, GM stands behind the product, and might warrant further investigation.

OF course, MY truck was in the shop for 32 days, waiting for injectors that were backordered.

Thanks for the replys,I think I will go ahead and get this dualley. The only problem is chevy has a restraint on the new option for 05 which is a moonroof.I just think if Im going to pay over 50k for a new truck I might as well get all the options. But it will sure be hard to wait.
