There's plenty of power to be had from a stock 6.5 but most of it is from removing restrictions the factory put in. Once the truck can breath easier you can up the boost but you will find you can't work it hard without adding a form of intercooling. The chips add power by turning up the fuel and PCM allowed boost levels, but you can do this without a chip. If you starting comparrison for the 6.5 is a cummins get ready for a little disapointment. This truck has limitations only gifted individuals with mig/tig welders can overcome.

I read you can't hear your turbo whine. I can hear mine clearly as I accelerate from idle. I would think that if you can't hear it you might not be getting full boost.
Do you have a boost guage?

no boost gauge. i can hear it clearly as i accelerate but its not like that powerstroke which is louder when u let out on it to shift gears
how would a boost gauge help?

The reason you can't hear your turbo is that it really isn't doing much in stock form. Turn the boost up and it will sound like a big rig tractor trailer... mine does. Max sustained boost when loaded is about 18 psi. Max sustained solo is about 15 psi.

Filter and chip negligible improvement, without freeing up exhaust 1st, save coins on chip for exhaust and downpipe. Chips add fuel add no fuel until you have gages.
update your sig so we can better advise which way to go OBD1 vs 2 is an important piece of info, EGR/Non EGR also good infoEdited by: Turbine Doc

K&N filters don't seal as well as OEM filters and can let dirt in around the seal, I had one and scraped it as have a number of 6.5 owners.
Best upgrade you can do is get a good exhaust! That is a must in my book.

That should do as long as your not going to do a bunch of power mod's. Did you change the factory down pipe because that has a built in 45% restriction on most of the pipes. If you still have it you can change just that and hook it up to your exhaust. Also check John K's site for tips on the intake.
