: Banks, MBRP, or any other?
2labs 01-20-2007, 03:52 PM Well I have decided to put dual exhaust on my truck! I am leaning towards the Banks Monster exhaust because I have been told it is easier to install, there will be no rubbing, it out performs others, and it is QUIETER than the rest. All four reasons are a plus in my book! I want something that is QUIET, easy, and good.
Why is MBRP so popular? Is there any other I should check into?
Which one do I want?
Thanks
I installed the Banks Dual Monster Exhaust...looks good, sounds good.
Cant say it helped the gas milage but can run the quarter (in 2wd) in 15.2 seconds. I had my hyperpac set on level 3 and trany in tow haul mode. I'm afraid to run it in 4wd...dont want to do any damage to the front end. I'll be hauling my 14,000 lb 5 ver to Florida in a couple weeks and hope to get good fuel milage. I think you will like the Banks duals. They definately helped performance and I think the EGT as well.
gunnut 01-20-2007, 09:04 PM I know the Banks is supposed to be quieter but does it growl a little when you get on it ?
The Banks is not very loud from inside the cab. I think I notice them being the loudest in 4th gear.
motorbreath 01-20-2007, 09:37 PM Why dualls if you want it quiet? Are you just after the look? Any aftermarket exaust will be fairly quiet, very comparible to stock, as long as you leave the cat on.

I really like the looks of the dual exhaust, but I also want some better performance. I do not want something that is loud and obnoxious like some other exhaust systems that I have heard.
Thanks
motorbreath 01-21-2007, 10:28 AM Ive got the MBRP, its fairly quiet untill you get over 2200 RPM or so, then it screams. Intall was a piece of cake too.
wilsonck 01-21-2007, 10:43 AM so is there any in-cab drone with that MBRP?
DSTRBD 01-21-2007, 02:55 PM Since you have an 05', noise should not be an issue. The LLY and LBZ trucks are much quieter than the LB7 which sound VERY aggressive with exhaust. I have installed and ran both systems and will take an MBRP kit anyday of the week. The Banks might be just a little quieter, but in the cab they are pretty close. The price of the MBRP kit is also a bit cheaper. Check our site for more info and dont hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions.

So why would you take a MBRP kit over the Banks Monster exhaust? What are the pro's and con's of both systems?
Thanks
Unit453 01-21-2007, 05:47 PM I ran a Magnaflow on my 04.5 LLY for a couple years. I switched to MBRP after reading here.....I was flat out tired of the drone....I welded up the MBRP and the drone was pretty much gone. The turbo got louder too. The MBRP is 8" longer than the Magnaflow muffler so the added resonance pretty much got rid of the drone. MBRP is a great system and I'm about to get one for my LBZ but I do not like the tail pipe.
ironman24 03-10-2007, 05:03 PM I have the MBRP on my truck. It was very easy to install. As for the sound, I dont think its loud at all. It has a nice rumble when you start up, then kinda quiets down. I did leave the cat on, im sure if you took that cat off any aftermarket set of pipes would be loud. I have had them on for a year now and im very pleased with them. Money well spent! :)
EricJS 03-11-2007, 12:46 AM I installed an MBRP system on my '05 and it was so quiet that I removed the muffler so I could hear a little rumble.
I've never tackled an exhaust before, but it was very quick and simple. Nothing like I expected.
I did have two people help me though. My 7 and 8 year old boys.;)
I really love the look and quality of the MBRP exhausts. They are very high quality.:D
i have a banks monster setup on my lly, with a cat delete front pipe.. i love the sound... the turbo whistle is louder and the its got a nice deep tone... cab noise is not that diffrent than stock in my opinion
sweetdiesel 03-11-2007, 10:28 AM banks single is louder than banks duels
mbrp duels is louder than banks duels
both easy to install
my banks muffler is not even a year old and is cracked at the weld
banks told me they would warrenty it but i have to pay the shipping
so ill take it to a welding shop
my banks duel exhaust is not 4" on the duel part after the muffler
and is already rusting out
i will go MBRP next time
