: fuel mix - slow from pump

Hello,

I went to fill my new truck last night. The station is selling a 70/30 mix. It came our of the pump very slowly. Is this mix OK. Is slow fueling a winter problem (temp was in 20s) or all the time?

Thanks.

Could be many things. Could be the pump, could be the level of fuel in the tanks, could be a clogged/dirty dispensing filter on the hose. Any and all of these conditions could be a reason to fuel someplace else.

Looks like this should have been posted in the Fluids Section, I am sure one of the Great Moderators will put it in the proper place.

I was just curious as to what the mixture was? What did the pump say on it? What type of station was it, so I can avoid it?

It was a local mom n' pop station, but they're pretty busy, so I figured there'd be fresh diesel. I tried two different pumps at the same station. The mix was 70/30.

I guess I'll try the truckstop next time.

Sorry this is in the wrong forum.

Id run away unless I was dangerously low (coudlnt make it to the next station), I agree either clogged filter, or gelling fuel though at 20 degrees a 70/30 mix shoudlnt gel,. even 100% #2 shoudlnt be therat bad at 20 degrees COMING OUT OF THE PUMP, (tanks are under ground after you get whats int he pump out of the pump, straight 2 shoudl come out of the ground ok.

70/30 mix of what? #2/Soy, #2/other bio, #2/#1, #2,Kerosene? 70/30 soy mix is not recommended at those temps. If it was soy mix, there lies your problem. Anything else could be air in the lines, clogged filter, or bad pump.

i had a pump at a BP station do the same thing to me and a few days later i had to replace my fuel filter which only had about 3 thousand miles on it....lucky i guess...just keep this in mind the next time it pumps slow like that

did they have above ground tanks, may use gravity flow, or have pump set for low volumn/pressure. when you use a place that your not sure about, get gallon pickle jar and put fuel in and let set. look at it for different colors and sediment/trash after setting. is it winter blend 70/30 or 70/30 blend, this maybe BIO mix. i prefer gravity/low pressure pumps over hi pressure, due to foaming(tends to make more mess).
